Hi everyone,

I heard that in the near future insurance companies may require a physician to have at least a MSK US certificate in order to get reimbursed for ultrasound guided procedures.

AAPM&R has a STEP program. There is also MSK US certification with ARDMS/RMSK or AIUM. Maybe there are other societies/organizations offering MSK US certification which I’m not aware of.

I want to get a good MSK US certificate that everyone and everywhere recognize. If you have any thoughts about this, please share. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it !!!

some areas of the country have run into this, last I heard the blues in VA had this requirement. but there is no agreement for which credential they'll accept and they can change their rules anytime they want. AMSSM has been working on getting MSK US baked into ABMS sports med cert. ABMS Pain cert also has US integrated. bottom line is that you have no control over this even with extra certifications but what is most important is whether your employer will let you do the procedures (clinic, ASC, or hospital credentialing)
