MSKCC interviews?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It is a bit of an emotional/self-confidence rollercoaster. Everytime I get an invite, I get a bit more optimistic. Then that is always followed by a few schools that did not invite me, which then leads to a crash in optimism. Oh well, it only takes one!

for what its worth, many of the people sending you rejection letters never would have made it to radonc if they were applying nowadays.

they just downloaded my Dean's letter today. I'm sure they're still sifting thru apps unless you guys know something I don't...

Until you get a rejection letter your application is still alive. Just b/c someone got an interview on one day does not mean you will not get one later. Any way even the best candidate out there will be rejected at a number of programs. There are so many highly qualified applicants it's impossible to interview all of them.

Try not to get too excited just yet (easier said than done, right?). Many programs send out interviews in batches...especially the bigger programs. And you don't know the backgrounds of students who post interview invites...Example: a med student at Michigan can probably expect to get an interview invitation to that program earlier than the rest of us.

And remember, everyone gets rejected. Even the best applicants. And sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. You can get an interview to Harvard, but not Penn; Cleveland Clinic, but not Cincinnati; Vandy but not UAB. There is definitely a significant element of chance in the process.

Thanks CN phair for the words of encouragement. It's been rather disheartening to see so many interviews already sent out, and not be invited! I was starting to panic and rethink my decision to apply to rad onc... *sigh* I hope you're right and there will be several rounds of interviews offered. Would you remember when most of the interviews were sent out last year? It seems rather early in the season right now, but over 10% of programs have already offered interview spots!

The only time I have heard of anyone getting an interview was from that one post. Did anyone else actually hear about offers going out??? And if so what are the dates?

It's unusual because last year MSKCC sent out their interviews very late. I haven't heard of anyone who has received an interview from MSKCC yet.

I'm calling fraud on this one (or maybe just denial)

MSKCC Sent out interview offers yesterday afternoon by simultaneous phone and email. I have no idea if there will be other offers extended but I received one option for an interview date, 1/17/07.

MSKCC invited me approx one week ago, via phone and email, also only gave only one option, Dec 13.

mmm, maybe we should re-evaluate who was in denial....

good luck to you anyway, and stop stessing out so hard

radoncmonkey is a public username used by multiple different students on this site from different schools, etc. So, all of the above comments about MSKCC interviews didn't necessarily come from the same student (they likely did not). 😉

the radoncmonkey account has been used beyond its original intention and usefulness. I am putting a temporary post hold on this account. I also kindly ask you all to refrain from creating another public account for the time being. Finally remind others that insulting other users is not permitted.

I hope what I said wasn't taken as an insult..I was just clarifying for marthaven as the radoncmonkey username seemed to have been confusing them. 😕
