😱OMG😱...my chinese comrade, I feel you...很不爽 indeed...when were u complete?

Dude, that's awesome, didn't think there were any comrades on SDN applying from the Canadian cycle this year!!

I was complete 8/31, how about you FrostMoon (I hope that's not a warcraft reference...)??

And where are you from? I'm VanCity all the way 😍😍😍!!

LOL...small world, isn't it? I did my high school (David Thompson Secondary) in VanCity as well. Then I moved on to U of T. What a nice surprise we got here on SDN!
oh...I was complete on 9/6. No news since then. I hope we both get in.
Good luck, bro!

I went to Ecole Secondaire McMath... stupid bilingual school... UGH! Nobody parlez Français in the States (nobody recycles here either...).

I went to UBC, first undergrad in Math = terrible (all the Chinese professors should have just taught the 300-400 classes in Chinese, I would have had a better time understanding the material rather then trying to interpret what they are saying)

Yeah man! Totally! I hope we both get in also!! Someone to practice Manda/Canto with so that we can go back to Van and open up a family practice with all the new Chinese immigrant as patients = if you speak it fluently, almost guarantee residency in British Columbia.

My application, including secondary, has been all complete for the last few weeks and I have not heard a decision yet. Does that mean I won't get in?

No. It's a long cycle. There were a lot of people last year that didn't hear back for months.

I was hoping someone here would be able to help me out. I only applied to MSU and according to AACOMAS my app was released Aug 30th but I still haven't received the secondary? Should I be worried, anyone know how long it takes to receive it? And I checked to make sure it wasn't in my junk mail either. The longer it takes the less of a chance I feel I have so would really like to get it done since its getting pretty late into the cycle. Thanks in advance!

True story, bro! If we do get in, this dream is not so far away! My Mandarin is actually better than my English, I immigrated to Canada 6 years ago...LOL...had a horrible time with MCAT verbal reasoning, but eventually landed a 10...I swear I would never ever write it again LOL
Also did you apply to any other school? I also applied to western, nova and AZCOM. Just wondering if we have more overlaps...
Good luck! we will get in! Van power! :xf:

Later in the cycle it takes a few weeks, don't panic. If you don't hear by the end of September, then contact them. Good luck!

Nice! I went to Canada when I was 15, but I still only got a 9 on my verbal... sad 🙁.

And no sir, MSUCOM is the only school I applied to. I did so horrible in my first degree at UBC such that I can only depend on my massive amount of EC to get in... which only fit the MSU admissions criteria.

Good luck dude! Van Power!

yo...UBC math is competitive, don't feel bad, dude! I'm sure your massive EC will get you in. My EC is so below average (abt 1000hr, but not so much medical related stuff), LOL...spent too much time working in lab...My reference is not strong either, my prof slacked off and just attached a reference letter witht the form....LOL...anywayz I hope my 3.92 gpa and 30R MCAT could get me somewhere...
Good luck to you, too!
I'm going back to Van this winter, if we both get in...I'll buy u a coffee:laugh:

I wanted to call my self "ChairmanMeow", but I can't believe that name was taken!!!

It would have been totally awesome if I got ChairmanMeow!

Cheers mate, I'm hoping to see you back in Van this winter also! We go out for Bubbletea!

Although I believe they had just declared that the "pearls" in bubbletea are carcinogenic... but what isn't these days.

I'm guessing those stats should get you in somewhere...I'm from Maple Ridge...pretty much Vancouver, although I feel like a lot of people downtown have never heard of it 😛

Good luck

Greater Vancouver encompasses such a large area... the huge region administrated by Van might be baffling for most people. But Maple Ridge is awesome!!

My family has a farm in Langley Township, we are pretty much neighbours.

Good luck all Vancouverites! Also Good luck everyone who's not from Vancouver!

Dude, that is so not true! How could someone even say he is from Vancouver if he has no idea where Maple Ridge is! Great to see another Van neightbour on SDN...we should have a reunion party some time.LOL
Thank you very much for being so encouraging! I hope all Vancouverites can make it!:xf:

So this school has a ludicrous OOS tuition rate - are there any current OOS students who can offer insight as to how they're paying for it? Just loans? That's like 400k in debt by the end of your schooling!

Hey

I'm Canadian, I was on the high waitlist last year for guarranteed admission this year. Did anybody receive their acceptance package yet? Just wondering coz in the email it said we had 3 weeks to submit our deposit and we had to respond with our address by september 10. It's been a week and I haven't received anything yet...just worried there's not enough time for me to get the money and mail it back if they want everything in 2 weeks. Anyone can shed any light on this?

If anyone is thinking of doing the military route, the OOS tuition here actually makes it an economically feasible idea. Lol

I got my packet about a week after the whole 'do you still want to go here' email. Before the packet came I called to check on it and it sounded like they were short staffed so it took a bit longer to mail out. It can never hurt to give them a quick call. I wish we got our site assignments sooner!!

Thanks. Do you mind telling me how much deposit we have to pay? just so i can have the money ready in case mine comes late and I'm short on time.

It's $1050 total. First payment is $750.

Have there been any out of state acceptances yet? Thanks and good luck to everyone!!

Looking at the current match list, only 26 students matched into allopathic residencies in a class of 300+? Usually d.o. schools match around 50/50 don't they? Do MSUCOM students tend to favor AOA residency programs more? Can any current MSUCOM students clarify and elaborate? thanks

if you find out, would you mind posting the answer here? I was wondering the same thing. Although my guess is that Michigan, since 1/3rd of all osteopahtic residency programs are in Michigan and most of their students are instate students, then it makes sense that those who wanna stay in state would choose AOA programs. ..

I concur with this.

While some AOA residencies are generally perceived to be somewhat lacking in reputation, I haven't heard a bad thing about any of the AOA residencies in MI. I think the majority of 4th years choose to match AOA because they are pretty solid in Michigan.

Look up various DOs practicing in Michigan, and you will see that the majority of them graduated from an AOA residency.

I really can't find a single negative thing about MSUCOM other than OOS tuition. I really think it's deserving of its strong reputation and high ranking.

Hmmm, I got the impression that it was all due at once. Guess it's time to call and bug them again.

I already paid my $750 so that's how I know you can pay it in two payments 🙂 first $750 is due by Dec 1st and the second payment of $300 is Feb 1st I think...don't remember the due date for that one exactly.

I am in complete and utter shock right now. I just got an acceptance to MSUCOM!!! :lock:

ACCEPTED!! Long time lurker, first time poster. All of the advice and positivity from this forum helped me tremendously.

Congrats to all who have been accepted today. Has any Canadian received any official acceptance yet as of today?

Gives me hope! I just got my stuff sent out today!

I was worried all the canuck spots would be filled by the time they got to me.

I am definitely picking MSU over LECOM. I really liked LECOM and was looking forward to PBL but the opportunity to go to a state school like MSU and stay close to home is too much to pass up! I honestly didn't know what my chances would be for MSU. Now I am just hoping I get placed at the Macomb campus, its literally like 10 min from where I live!
