MSU-COM Discussion Thread 2012-2013

Still trying to decide if I should go through the whole secondary thing with MSU. It's a great school and I'm originally from Michigan, though I haven't lived there for 9 years. Just feel bad asking my evaluators to write more letters of recommendation.
Could you share the prompts, please?
I know what you mean. The evaluation process is extremely annoying. Probably their way of weeding out people that don't really want to go there, unfortunately 🙁

It was released on Sunday (6/24). I was surprised by the quick turnaround!

Don't think so. I just checked CIB last night.
"Supplemental Application Requirements: Cumulative and science GPA of 2.70. MCAT total 20 and Minimum Subject Scores: 6 Verbal,
6 Physical Sciences, 8 Biology"
I'm pretty sure they do. Last time I applied, I got the secondary before my first MCAT score came out. I'm not sure if that is universal or situational though.
Where do you get the secondary? Is it emailed to you? Or is it on the AACOMAS system?

I am surprised I did not receive a secondary today...my stats are significantly above the minimums, maybe because I am OOS? Hmmmm maybe they are not like other schools and do not send out secondaries instantly to every person who simply meets their minimums.
Wondering the same thing...maybe Michigan residents get it first?
I too had my primary submitted on 6/24 and didn't receive a secondary. But form NJ so hopefully its just a resident priority thing :S

So along with my secondary app, they send me another email telling me that I am missing 1 semester hour under the behavioral science category.
I have to provide proof that I am going to fulfill this requirement before June 2013 IF I am accepted, so should I just go ahead and sign up to take the missing class this fall OR wait until I get an interview so at least I know I have a shot at getting accepted before I go spending money and time taking a class??

Just met with admissions recently. They have two women processing the applications, one is off for the entire month of July, so there is one woman in the office processing which is why it takes so long. Also I heard that usually by this time, in the past, they receive about 300 applications. This year, they have already received 600, which is double what they normally have by this time. This is accounting for the longer processing time.
Also as long as you have the minimum GPA they send a secondary, dont need to wait for mcat scores

Awesome! Thanks so much for the info. Just hoping the delay won't be too lengthy. I've already pre-written my part of the secondary, but I need to send the forms to my letter writers. Ideally I don't want to rush them too much but looks like I'll have to in order to be completed ASAP.
I've gotten secondaries from CCOM, Watern U, and NOVA so far.

I haven't gotten a secondary invite, but I did get an email saying that I would have to take genetics before matriculating in 2013 since I don't have that one.

I haven't heard from MSU yet, submitted 6/3, verified 6/14, released 6/24.... but they just got my MCAT scores yesterday. Hopefully hearing from them soon.
Yes I have my MCAT score. From last September.
Why do they want to know HS stuff?
Secondary Received 7/5! It was in my spam folder too!
My high school stuff is easy. I was homeschooled. Never got a diploma or even a GED lol
