Hello everyone,

I just received my secondary application email today. Not sure if I've just been spending too much time reading sdn but am I too late to be submitting a secondary app? I sent my primary in Mid August and just now got my secondary sheeeesh.

I'm going to do it anyway cuz this is my top choice school, but I just want to know I haven't lost the majority of my chance to get in (as the way a lot of posts make it seem). I personally feel like I'm in the middle-ish of the application cycle and not late at all..but I've read otherwise.

Help 🙂

sdn is not a representative sample of the applicant pool. Submit that secondary.

+1 SDN-ers love to scare others for some reason. Submit it. Idk what your stats are but if they are good having it in within the next week or two really shouldn't hurt you too much. The are NOT rolling admissions - rather they take top applicants from specific groups (one week high MCAT scores, one week high GPA, one week high volunteer hours). So if you are sufficient in one of those areas your app should get pulled pretty soon. People say admit early because at that point you have the chance of being compared to less people. However, keep in my mind they prefer to have their 300 person class size filled by Christmas soooo get that baby in. Hope that helps 🙂

Thats very true! SDN has certain people that seem to want to discourage others. Definitely working on getting it in ASAP. Then comes the waiting game.

I just wanted to know I was still in the right time frame. Thanks ya'll! 🙂

Submit your application if you feel that you are qualified, and then run away--as fast as you can--from SDN before you are convinced matching dermatology at Hopkins is the only way to become a doctor.

This is acrtually the minimum that I would consider a person becoming a real doctor.

Or getting accepted into Mayo out of undergrad. 😎

You said its your top choice, so of course you should submit it. Worse case scenario is the same for all of us no matter when we submit.

As far as the majority of your chance, it's really about what you put into your application. Of course timing helps but it's not the only factor.

MSU doesn't give II's right? They just sent out rejections/acceptances? I can't really afford to fly out to Michigan but I think I can garner an acceptance if I sent them my primary and complete it soon. Should I do this?

Right. Only acceptances/rejections. No interviews. Keep in mind their secondary is quite the beast, though.
