Does the MSW transfer over into other countries such as the UK, France, Italy, Australia? I want to get my MSW at NYU, but I also want to be able to travel while I'm young so I was wondering if their were any issues in regard to licensing (LCSW) and job prospects?

also, what is the deal with private practice? are LCSW's allowed to go into private practice in those countries?

My suspicion is that if licensing and practice laws vary by state here, then they're going to vary by country.

I suggest you do a Google search for the countries you're considering visiting. I did a quick one for the UK and this popped up as the second link: http://www.socialworkandcare.co.uk/socialwork/

also, what can I do with an straight MSW with no lincensure? Is therapy still an option or is that restricted to LCSW's and other lincensed social workers? (private practice excluded of course)

^^^ are you talking about in the US or abroad? (not that I know the answer if you're talking about other countries, I'm just not clear on what you're asking)
