I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me. I have a co-worker who is interested in getting his commission and getting his MSW through the military. He has gotten information about a program through Fayetteville University. I was wondering if any one had any other options or helpful hints about how he could go about this without having to get out of the military (he has 11+ yrs in and would be foolish to get out to get an MSW and then try and come back in. he would most certainly be over the age of 40 by then.) THanks for the help and suggestions!

I am looking into the same program in the Navy. From what I understand, they will not pay for the MSW, but will pay for an internship post MSW via HSCP. And they only offer around 5 per year so it's extremely competitive. The only way to get the MSW paid for is to get out (unless he can go to school after work) and use the GI Bill or other scholarships.

The only schools they will pay you to do is medical or dental school...

he already has a 4 yr degree. He is looking into programs that he might be able to do while staying on active duty, seeing as he already has 11 yrs in and doesnt want to get out of the army and then come back in bc i think he is worried that they might not take him back in bc of his age and with the army reducing the force.
