Ok, so I know this topic has been covered extensively, but I still don't have a clear idea on which book to get.

If you were to pick one, would you use MTB step 3 or FA step 3???

I'm planning on using Kaplan's step 2 material for in-depth reading, along with heavy use of UWorld. Just need an overview book as well.

Thank you for any advice.

Anybody want to comment?

I started reading first aid and hated it. I eventually dropped it after two sections. I just did Uworld. I did Kaplan for Step 2, so had a bunch of notes that I took while going through the course. I skimmed those. A couple of prelims in my program (i.e. Rads, Derm, Rad-Onc) took a look at First Aid and canned it too. First Aid had a great reputation from Step 1. Pretty good on Step 2. Awful for Step 3.

I never looked at MTB3.

Thank you so much for your answer - I'll definately stay away from FA then.

I used MTB for step 2 and found it to be extremely good - I think I'll get that as main review book.

For COMLEX, I used FA Step 3. I thought it was good but not as a stand-alone text. It doesn't go into enough specifics about treatment and when it does, I feel that it lacks the proper emphasis. That said, it covered most of the important topics better-than-adequate for the COMLEX Level 3.

I used FA Step 3, COMQUEST, and 2/3 of COMBANK.
