Searching jobs today, I ran across a job on Target's site for a Professional Services Manager in Adherence and Pharmacy MTM.

It looks like the job consists of helping develop adherence (not sure what they meant by this) and an MTM services menu, documentation, long range strategy, etc. Here's a link to the posting: http://targetcareers.target.com/job...es-Manager-Pharmacy-MTM-Job-MN-55401/1151539/

I'm surprised to see Target taking that on, but that sounds like an interesting option for the future! What do you think?

They have been expanding the Target Clinic portion of their business (in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, anyway), so it makes sense that they might want to get in on the MTM action as well.

Since pharmacies make a profit off MTM services, that position sounds like a way to maximize MTM profit nationwide.

At my store, MTM basically means making cost effective changes to a patient's regimen. Such as substituting Simvastatin for Lipitor and submitting that documention on the Outcomes website. A few Medicare Part D plans will send letters to patients explaining they can make an appointment with a pharmacist to go over their medications to make cost effective changes. The pharmacy can then bill the insurance company for that service. I have a feeling that this is what they are referring to.

So far I've only had one patient make an appointment with me, a retired MD. Now he asks for me for whenever he has a drug question.
