Anyone able to apply to MUCOM without the sociology requirement? I have a bunch of psychology courses, can those be used to substitute for the sociology requirement?

So did you find anything on this matter? I'm also interested.

According to what I have read so far, we cannot substitute for any pre-reqs. For the sociology requirement, you either need to have taken it or "anthropology is accepted on a case-by-case basis."
Looks like I won't be applying there anymore.

From last year's MU-COM thread a MU-COM representative actually replied saying no substitution:
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thr...ssion-thread-2014-2015.1069750/#post-15329199

But that thread also mentions they don't verify the pre reqs until after you get accepted
  • MU-COM does not render decisions on whether or not a class satisfies the prerequisite unless the applicant is admitted. Until a final decision is rendered, we default to what is reported on the AACOMAS application.
So you could still apply to Marian, find out if you get accepted and then discuss your course situation with them. If they keep insisting you take the course, then you can take a quick course over the spring or summer semester at a community college.

I just feel you shouldn't give up on a school because of this one requirement. You never know, this school might be the only acceptance you get this cycle (although I hope you get a lot more)

Very true. Thanks for the input, I will definitely look into it.

But, what course do I input for that requirement on the app? A psych course or something?
