Hey everyone -

So I am in a slightly sticky situation (my own fault). I was accepted to both NYU and UVA this cycle, and wish to matriculate at NYU. I (mistakenly) assumed that UVA would have a portal link to withdraw through, however, I have been unable to find one, and therefore will still be holding acceptances to both NYU and UVA tomorrow. I have heard that if a date falls on a weekend, AMCAS claims that it is moved to the next day, and plan to call the admissions offices of both schools tomorrow.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I should approach this?

Thanks!

I did the same thing and assumed that the school I wanted to withdraw from would have a button, and they didn't. I just emailed them, not a big deal. As long as you indicate your withdrawal before traffic day you're fine, even if they don't acknowledge it until later.

No problem. Just email.

Just to clarify is it okay to email them tomorrow(May 1st) or does it need to be today(April 30th)?
I received some last minute financial/perspective-changing news on Friday and I was hoping they would be okay with an email on Monday

Either is fine.

Lol this is like the best problem I've ever seen.

I know, this is the epitome of a first world problem, but the neuroticism got the better of me.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

If you read the traffic rules it indicates that if April 30th is a weekend, its the following Monday. So for 2017 the actual date is May 1.

I think I only sent emails when I withdrew. I'm sure the portal worked, but it seemed like that was for pre-acceptance business and even though I'm sure they didn't care whatsoever I always felt emailing them and letting them know was the right thing.

Not to takeover but if I emailed the other school today to withdraw I'm good to go even if they didn't respond??
