Hi everyone.

So I'm a Canadian student preparing to apply to US dental schools this summer. I've written the Canadian DAT (AA/TS: 22) and plan on writing the American DAT to help broaden my chances of acceptance and perhaps even improve my score.

In terms of my transcript, I have three C+ classes, all of which are in non-prerequiste, upper level Chemistry and Biology lab classes. I've looked at previous threads before, and know that a few C+ classes won't be the end of me (thankfully!). That being said, I was wondering if any current dental students/individuals familiar with the process know if lab classes are "weighted" less than standard, theoretical classes in the eyes of Adcoms?

These three classes are killing my cGPA and sGPA. Currently at a 3.55/3.32 and was really hoping on a Columbia or UPenn interview. Would be grateful in being accepted anywhere, though.

Thank you for your insight

I personally think that your stats are competitive. I do not believe dental schools looks at individual grades; rather look at your science GPA in a big picture and same for the overall GPA. Even if you don't get interviews from Columbia and UPenn, I think you have a decent shot of getting accepted to several schools, as long as you do well on the interviews.
Good luck!
