Hey Everyone!

Does anyone know the chances are of getting into a med school (not a top 10-20 med school) by taking the MCAT 3+ times? This is also considering decent gpa, research experience, volunteering, etc. etc. Is it something like a "3-strikes" and then no chance of getting in? Good luck to everyone!!! 🙂

Honestly, I don't think schools care that much if you've taken the test 3 -4 times as long as you've done well. I took the MCAT a 3rd time because my score expired for some of the schools I applied to and no one seemed to care. You may get asked about it at an interview, but overall, I don't think it'll be viewed in a negative way.

As long as your score always increased, you should be fine.

I agree. I took it 3 times, and I've gotten into several med schools. I've asked a med school admissions dean what they thought about people taking the MCAT more than once and he said that he would be more concerned if an applicant didn't do too well on the MCAT and DIDN'T retake it. He said even if they take it and their score didn't improve by much, it shows that they care enough to try again. Still, I think if you're going to retake it, try to improve your score by a good number of points. 🙂

Good luck!
