Multiple Questions- Application/DAT Timeline, What are my chances?

Hi guys, long-time visitor, but only my 2nd thread posting. Hoping you guys can give me some advice.

So, I'll be applying this year to dental school, and I had a couple of questions on how I should go about doing it.

Well, first, here are my stats-

cGPA: 3.508
sGPA: 3.41
DAT Scores (Taken 7/31/2009):

PAT- 22
QR- 17
RC- 22
Bio- 18
GC- 16
OC- 21
TS- 18
AA- 19

Some of my EC's include 100+ hrs of shadowing, member of DEM (Pre-health fraternity), Co-founding a Dental club at school geared towards educating children of proper hygiene, Member of multiple other clubs (Pre-Dental Club, Public Health Issues Forum, UNICEF)

So, like countless other people, what do you guys think my chances are of getting into say....LLU, USC, Western, BU, Tufts, UNLV.....and UCSF (shoot for the stars right? haha)

My second question is....I am planning on retaking the DAT in LATE July or early August, would that be too late to make me competitive in this application cycle? Im retaking it, because of my obviously low GC score....

If you attended a 4 year institution/university for your entire undergraduate career, I'd say that you have a good shot at your perspective schools.

However, in all honesty I think your GC score may hurt your chances significantly. You may not meet the minimum cut offs for some schools, hence you will not even be considered. Your best bet would be to contact the schools and ask them about your GC score.

Yes, my stats are from a 4-year university for the entirety of my undergrad. career.

Yeah, the only reason I'm retakin is so I get a better score on GC, which is frustrating, but I have no choice.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely contact the schools and see what they say.

Btw, taking your DAT in July I don't think would hurt you too bad considering your stats.

Try to aim for July and not August 😉
