Hello, I am currently a fourth year pharmacy student of a 2-4 program and am exploring job prospects. I acknowledge that the job I am looking for may not be local so it is best to "expand the net". In doing so I would need to obtain other licenses as well. What is the best means to do this cost effectively? I doubt taking each exam is the best option.
1. interview at the state and let them know you are willing to relocate and obtain the certifications needed of the assigned state
2. obtain it before applying so that it is in effect when you get the job offer.

Appreciate any feedback from those who've walked these paths. Thanks

It's going to be hard to get a job in a state without already having the license. Some job postings will give you time to obtain the license, but these are usually more specialized jobs that you wouldn't be interviewing for right out of school.

If you have the means to do so, transfer your naplex score to 2-4 states you may be interested in. 75$ is fairly cheap insurance compared to having to shell out 600$ to re take the exam if you end up having to move and it's been more than 90 days since you took the exam

Most hospitals use online application systems which will automatically reject you if you don't have a license in that state. Forget about getting an interview - without a license, the DOP won't even know you applied. Think about some states you'd like to move to and score transfer there; it's cheaper and much less hassle than getting a license by reciprocity.

I interviewed for an out of state job (a state that is notorious slow with applications, took me 6m with inside help). The hiring manager asked if I had my license already (I did, I wanted to apply until I did). She seemed really relieved and said she gets a lot of applicants that don't. So i guess, even if it's not required it's a big plus
