Hey, have are any of you guys on multiple waiting lists? I've had 6 interviews, been accepted to two schools, and been waitlisted to ALL 4 of the schools that I was really interested in. I find this so frustrating that this late in the game, I still have to scrounge and for acceptances. Does anyone have advice on how to get off the waitlist besides writing the standard, "I really want to come to your school, here's why...." deal. Thanks.

Hey. So I have interviewed at 5 schools and have been WLed at ALL 5. Dude, at least you have 2 acceptance. While I do hope that you get off the WL at your top choice, be thankful that you have any options at all. Because this "late in the game" it is really frustrating to be BENCHED!! ANYWAY.

For what it is worth: In addition to sending interest and intent letters...I am working on my MS and have sent the schools my abstract along with another interest-type letter. Also, I am planning on sending them grades at the end of the semester. I dont know how much these things will way in their decisions, but I am hoping that by letting them know what is going on with me they wont forget about me at the bottom of their WL pile!
Best of Luck!!! 🙂

hey thanks for the advice man. I guess i shouldn't bitch too much about getting two acceptances, but I get so frustrated with this wait list stuff. I know this sounds stupid, but I wish these schools would either reject or accept me. That takes away so much guesswork and speculation. Worrying about whether or not a school is going to pull me off the list only adds to stress of this whole affair. But anyway, good luck with your admissions, I'm sure you'll land at least one of those schools.

I interviewed at four schools, was waitlisted at three, and am still waiting to hear from one of them. I know being waitlisted is frustrating, but be thankful you have two acceptances. Yeah, I know they might not be your dream schools, but at least you WILL be an M.D., and that's a lot. It doesn't really matter where you go as long as it's a U.S. medical school, in terms of your future career. Going to a top-ten school will help in terms of residency, but once you're past the top ten it's less about where you go and more about how you do once you are there. Personally, I'm just praying that the last school I'm waiting to hear from post-interview will accept me.

I am waitlisted at 5 schools so far and have one school I haven't heard from.

However I have two acceptances so I really have no room to complain because there are people with no acceptances yet.

I am especially grateful because I am a reapplicant.

Yep, 4 interviews and 4 waitlists (BU, Rochester, UVA and EVMS). I have one interview next month with NYMC, so maybe I can turn it around. Oh and Pelicanman - please please please go to UCSF so I can go to BU! Haha, just kidding man, congrats with those acceptances.

I'm pulling for everyone with waitlists and no acceptances - it is so hard to have no idea what's going on next year - with no idea where I'll end up. I can't make any definite plans for moving or anything. And do I reapply already, while I'm waiting, in case I don't get an acceptance? I guess so, but that's a lot of money. This process is long/hard enough without the waitlist game. AAAhhh!!

And not that I need the extra motivation, but if I do get in off one of these waitlists and end up somewhere in the fall, I'm going to have so much more appreciation for being in medical school. Because while some people get in with, what seems to them, like little effort (I know a couple people like this) - I would take the road I'm on anyday if it means I worked my ASS off to get there and prove how much I want it.

Good luck everyone!

I got accepted to University of South Florida (USF). Not University of California San Francisco (UCSF). If I had gotten accepted to UCSF I would go there no question.

pelicanman,

sorry about that! it's 6:30 and I've been working for 10 hrs now, so I have an excuse. Regardless, USF is a great school. My honest opinion though - go to BU. The clinical experience is ridiculously good and you will be living in Boston - the greatest city on earth and home of the 2003 World Series Champions!

Me too! I love waitlists! I am on 3 right now with another decision pending! (I had 5 interviews and one post-interview rejection, blah).

Two acceptances, six waiting lists, two post-interview withdrawls that probably would have been waiting lists, one post-interview rejection, and three schools yet to hear back from after interviews.

I wouldn't be surprised to end up on a total of 9 waiting lists, all but one of which I'll be trying to get an acceptance from over my current ones.

Accepted at 3, withdrew 1 of the acceptance, withdrew from 1 post-interview, waitlisted on 2, and waiting to hear from 4!

Whew...that was complicated.

I have interviewed at 5 schools- waitlisted at 3 and haven't heard from 2....All this waiting is really tough- I feel you. I wish they would hurry up and decide so that all of us would have a spot next year somewhere. I know that's not realistic, but I wish it was. GOod luck to everyone!
🙂
