Dr Ryan says a few times in his videos that the questions on Step 1 will tell you where a murmur is heard in the stem of the question, ie where it is heard best.

For people that have taken their exam is this accurate?

Often true. Hints could also be given be the patient age and sex, louder/softer based on position or grip, or flat told it occurs in sys or dias. Look at the big picture.
