Hello,
I'm super grateful to have multiple acceptances, but I'm really struggling to decide between these two options! I've been thinking about this a lot and am leaning towards MUSC due to tuition differences, distance from family, and location, but I wanted to get some other opinions and make sure I'm not crazy for this decision. As for specialty, I'm not sure yet what I will choose but am leaning Internal Medicine. I'm just wondering whether cost and proximity to family is worth the difference in program quality.
MUSC Pros:
- Close to family (2 hour drive)
- Decent research and global health opportunities
- Located in Charleston (gorgeous city on the beach)
- Tuition will be half of Colorado's tuition (IS)
MUSC Cons:
- preclinical grading is pass/fail with quartiles
- lower rank / weaker match list
Colorado Pros:
- Amazing research & global health track
- Students seem to really like the program
- strong match list
- Not sure if the LIC model is a pro or a con, but students seem to like it
Colorado Cons:
- COA will be 150k higher with higher cost of living
- 5-6h travel from home (flight)
- I've heard the campus isn't in the safest area
- I'm not super excited about the climate and I'm not a very outdoorsy person (so potentially not as much to do)
