Title should say MSUCOM. Typo. Funny one, but totally a typo.

Hey everyone. So my app (secondary as well) is done, and accounted for today at Msucom (as they informed me.)
Stats are as follows:
GPA: 3.65c, 3.6s
(Extreme upward trend, last couple semesters have been 4.0's. This semester's almost done, I've taken 22 Credits current and I'm pulling an A in every class, the majority of which are sciences including genetics. Taking 24 next semester. This, as I work for roughly 15 hrs a week in my hypertension lab)
MCAT: 26P, balanced 9,9,8
Major: Nutrition & Food science

Lots of EC's, varied. Some volunteer work. Great eval. letters. Hypertension researcher (Henry Ford Hospital) for a year now (was offered a full time job, which I listed as my contingency plan.) Gave a presentation at Wayne State Medical School. Showed physicians, attended case-presentations (by residents.) I have 4+ years of experience in customer service. I'm fluent in Arabic and semi fluent in Spanish as well. Underprivileged background- Michigan resident.

How's it look for this cycle? Everything's in now, I'm just waiting and want to get an idea of how it all looks fellas.
Thanks

You seem to be in a similar situation as me. If you ask me, you redeemed yourself as much as possible (gpa wise) and hopefully the adcom will appreciate your upward trend. I think you will be competitive as you stand (depending to which school you want to apply of course) but a higher MCAT will always help. My personal goal is a 3.5+ and a 30 on the mcat. I have realized there will always be someone with a better gpa/mcat so all i could do is try to make up for my mistakes and try my best. (which it sounds like you have done). Also i've been told to apply broadly (maybe apply to a couple lower tier schools). Good luck!

I think stat wise you are fine. How many hours of volunteer work and EC's did you have? That is a pretty important part in the application. As far as this year goes, its hard to say because it is pretty late, but anything is possible and will be based on how many people actually accept their offers.

I have 288 Volunteer hours, 6,500+ work hours (their high-school years section), and 1050 hours for extra curricular actives which include an ongoing research project...
... how late is it? They say they keep accepting people until March right? Are they only wait listing now?

I was told an ave of 800 volunteer hours--but I think that was combined with EC's so you are probably ok. You just have to wait it out now. Honestly, It would have been better to have been completed earlier, because more spots would have been available. However, you never know.

I think it's 800 hours of nonacademic activity combined, but I think that's an unofficial suggestion. Or a rough guideline...

I did finish my app some time ago, but it was still late. I was waiting on an evaluator that took 3 more weeks than my actual submission- it killed me on the inside. Do you hear of people still getting accepted? I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have had this problem had I applied super early, in August.... oh well.. Are the committees that choose apps still meeting regularly?
