I've been accepted to MWU-IL. I have an interview end of this month at NYU. I'm starting to have second thoughts about interviewing their because I'm not even sure if I'll go if I get in. What would you guys do?

I would save around $40,0000 over the course of 4 years if I go to MWU-IL. It doesn't seem like a lot but I already have my undergrad and Masters degree to pay off. NYU has a big name associated with it while MWU doesn't as much. I'm just thinking long term when building a practice and the effect that going to a big name school has on your business. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would go just to see New York City. Go check out the school in the process. You never know if you might want to specialize one day and end up at NYU.

People are actually considering going to all these new schools they're popping up left and right???

It's worth a look at, especially since it's the next 4 years for you. I wouldn't be too comfortable being the inaugural class for a dental school. I would expect constant changes to the curriculum and protocols as the school explores what works best, that will be pretty stressful.

If you have any questions about NYUCD, I am more than happy to answer..

Well they are dental schools & if you are given a chance to become a dentist why not?...

Aren't people going to caribbean, poland, etc... to study medicine... what kind of question is that... its a chance when you are given that chance you take it. Plus going to these new schools does not make them inferior dentists.

Go-I thought NYU was great when I went. They may give you a scholarship. They gave me one-15k/yr, and I have seen others get them(minority and non-minorities). That would tip your scales immensely, I imagine.

It's ignorant to say you shouldn't attend a school without having interviewed there or having checked it out. Even though Midwestern is a new school I loved what they had to offer and their staff was very friendly. It's also based on the curriculum in Arizona so they have a foundation to go off of.

Agreed. That being said, I think spending 200-300k for anyone is an investment. It's easier to invest in something that is tried, true, and works. I personally wouldn't put down 200-300k on a new school unless its my last choice. Yes, I know the new school will most likely be successful, but I want a 100% assurance. I want that assurance knowing that I will get what is printed out in that brochure.

To the OP, go look at NYU. It's definitely worthwhile. Yes, its expensive, but at least, you know what you are getting if you attend there. Whether it's research, academics, or student life, you at least know you WILL get it at NYU.

Good luck with your decision.
