I have a question for a fellow medical student who has decided recently to go into radiology. She was not able to secure a radiology elective until September where she hopes to obtain a LOR. She will also have an LOR from a physician she has shadowed in radiology. She was offered a spot in September for diagnostic radiology but then was also offered spots in neuroradiology for September and diagnostic rads for October. Would she be ok just taking the September spot or would it give her an advantage to also take the October spot?

No advantage in taking both. The surveys of PDs overwhelmingly report that they want, at MOST, one letter from radiology, with the balance coming from medicine and/or surgery. Everyone understands that there is no way a med student can differentiate themselves on an elective (other being "pleasant to be in the reading room with"), so it behooves an applicant to minimize away electives.
