Hey everyone! I can't help but feel I might not be competitive enough so maybe you guys could help a brotha out.
Here are my stats:

DAT: 20AA, 21SNS, 20 BIO, 26GC, 20OC, 19RC, 17QR, 21PAT
Undergrad GPA: 2.99
Post Bacc GPA: 3.75 (only the first semester which was 12 hours, still have another to go. 3 A's and 1 B+)
Total science GPA as of now is 2.97.

I'll post the classes I took and will take as a reference:
Fall 2018:
Human Physiology (attempt 2): A
Biochem (Attempt 2): A
Immunology: A
Endocrinology: B+

Spring 2019: (None are retakes)
Biochem 2
Clinical Biochem
Immunochemistry
Cell bio
Molecular Bio
Anatomy and Physiology lab

The numbers aren't great but another semester like the last one should bolster my chances right?

This is setting aside all community service/shadowing. I am doing plenty in parallel to my post bacc.

Thanks in advance!

Your feelings are correct, you are not competitive. That being said plenty of users have raised their cGPA and sGPA to >3.0 doing what you're doing and have gained admission. With a GPA like yours you better be cranking out the shadowing and volunteering hardcore. I'd retake your DAT too and try to get a 22+. Here is a thread of others in a similar predicament.

I wish you luck. Seems like you've been able to turn around your bad study habits this last semester, hopefully you can do it again.

My initial stats were very similar to yours (undergrad GPA 3.02, 21 AA, 22 TS), and I got in to 4 schools on the first attempt. Overall, I think you are on the right track. Try very hard to get above 3.00 for the sGPA, which you're already well on the way with with your new trend, so good job!

At the end of this post-bacc, you know your GPAs will still not be very high, but you can compensate with at least 150+ shadowing hours and 150+ volunteering hours. I don't necessarily think a DAT retake is necessary, but that's just from my personal experience. If a retake makes you feel more confident, then go for it!

Factoring in any part-time or full-time work as well, I think getting to dental school is doable for you.

Just want to add in that for these second attempts, both grades will be factored into your sGPA for schools (AADSAS does not replace grades). So if the 2.97 is after taking into account this fact, then you should hopefully be able to bump it to over a 3.0 by the end of next semester (but be careful that you aren't taking too many courses, cause it's more hours than this past semester). If the 2.97 is without using both grades, then I'd probably look into doing a Master's to prove you can handle that kind of coursework (vs continuing your post-bacc). Your DAT seems to look okay so I would focus more on classes/GPA than retaking it.

Chances are pretty fair, I think you really showed your capabilities as an applicant with your post bacc GPA. DAT is solid as well. Apply broadly and I think you will get in. Message me for any more help
