My stats are:
3.7cGPA and a 3.6sGPA. Majored in Bio
MCAT=33Q
100 hrs of shadowing between an ER doc and a PCP.
2 years of volunter work @ Red Cross
1 year of volunter work at Make-a-wish foundation
1 year working as EMT
3 years working as a Paramedic
I'm a NC resident and looking to go to school close to home, so those would be my top choices.
I'd prefer a MD program for reasons I don't wish to go into, but would consider DO as a last resort.

Thanks, and if you need to know anymore info, please ask!

No, I barely got through juggling college/full time job with overtime to pay bills and taking care of my 15 y/o brother who has CA. I hope this doesn't hurt my app too much, will it?... 😕

While stats tables would predict a 78% chance of an acceptance, even without the research, I think your chances may be better due to the particularly strong patient experience and volunteer activity, provided you have a good PS, supportive LORs, and decent interview skills.

Any teaching or leadership would be an additional plus.

I teach ACLS and CPR on occasions, but I do get paid for them, is that an acceptable form of teaching?

Thank you for the replies Catalystik. I tried PMing you a few further questions you may be able to answer although it wouldn't allow me. Would you mind if I did?

I was wondering whether Adcom's lump my years of experience working full time as a 911 paramedic in the same boat of some premeds that just do EMT for cert. For example, volunteering every once in a while at a school EMS squad.

Are you an apart of an adcom board or you are just giving advice based on experience?

Thanks again!
