I have a 2.79 ugpa now and I am currently in a post bacc program to improve my gpa, I am assuming a post bacc gpa of 3.94 with 16 credits before I apply next cycle this June. My gpa will be pulled up to a 2.9 from 2.79. So do you think I will get into the following dental schools as listed: I just moved back to VA from IL because I am in a post bacc program at NSU. My DAT is at 18.

1. UDM
2. MOSDOH
3. ASDOH
4. Western
5. VCU
6. Howard
7. UNE
8. IU
9. Marquette
10. Texas-Houston

I still think schools will ask with such a high post bacc gpa, why is the DAT score still so low?
does dental schools have a gpa cutoff? What happens if I do not meet the gpa cutoffs? My gpa will be pulled up to a 2.9 from a 2.79 after 16 credits of Post bacc?

The average DAT score of my class here at VCU is a 21. Yeah people get in with an 18 but way more get rejected, that’s just a fact, it’s below the national accepted average and 3 points below your state school’s average. Speculatively, an admissions committee could wonder why your DAT is low when you were able to get a 3.94 in a post-bacc? If you only took the DAT once before you started your post-bacc, they’ll certainly wonder why you didn’t retake. If you took it after, they could easily be concerned that your program has a grade inflation problem. Whether that’s true or not, if they think that when they look at your application, it’s definitely not going to work in your favor.

Higher DAT and or more courses. 16 units isn’t much. I had a similar undergrad gpa, did 54 units for my masters degree and a 24 DAT. My grad program boosted my 2.8 to a 3.2 overall from my 3.7 grad gpa. (Still no acceptances at this point, but waiting on interview decisions at least)

Retake DAT. The people who get in with an 18 have higher GPAs than 2.9. Also take Houston off the list, TX instate bias blocks those with average stats from out of state and yours are below average.

Also apply to Nova, lecom, and both MWU's
Do u know anyone got accepted to Nova with 18 DATs and 2.9 gpa?

You need to stop making the same types of posts over and over. You need to take more classes (16 units is not enough, 22 is not enough either- you need like 40+) and bring your GPA to above a 3.0. Then you need to retake your DAT and get at least a 20-21 overall. After that, you need to make a solid school list and really do your research on them. Texas schools very rarely take someone OOS, Howard makes sense if you're URM, etc.

Until you have your stats in order, please refrain from posting the same type of topic. The advice you get will not change each time you post.

I had a 2.7 gpa in high school. I got a 3.8 in my second semester of college taking 16 credits.......with that info my advisor was still not convinced I would go to grad school

This. But also check the MWU thread, seems like those with lower GPA than 3.3 were screened out pre-interview.

Find out the averages for dental schools and apply to more with lower gpa and DAT averages. You can find the info on SDN or buying the ADA book on dental exams for ~10 dollars

You see, often times students offset their below average on one stat with above average in another stat. What you currently have are below average GPA (sorry post bac programs don't mean much with that little credit) and below average DAT (your RC and QR won't get you anywhere).
