I'm mainly posting this here to hold myself accountable. I have a goal of scoring a 23 AA on the DAT - which is understandably quite the feat... My exam is to be taken mid April... Wish my luck guys

Here is Day 1 of my journey on SDN

Gen Chem Bootcamp Exam 1 Score - 11
Gen Chem BootcampExam 2 Score - 17
Watched and took notes on Chad's Day 2 OCHEM + Read 2 chapters in Cliff's

The first Gen Chem Bootcamp exam was kind of a waste as I was really just trying to gauge where I was at as I start this trek...

17/18 on Bootcamp PAT should net you something like a 21-22 maybe even higher if you're really on your game. I was getting 20 on the nose every time on Bootcamp PAT and I got a 24. The real test is much easier than Bootcamp imo, don't stress (just watch out for those rocks on the keyholes section)

I really took the time and care in the reading comprehension section this time to make sure that I didn't miss any questions and went from a 19 to a 21...I'm going to try harder on the next, as this is a relatively easy section and requires little to no studying...

Maybe you shouldn't take so many practices if your Bio and OC are that low. Yeah RC is about reading quickly and having a decent strategy.

I haven't - hence why they are the same scores as before (they haven't been updated since I haven't taken any. I will be taking a chem section practice in a day or two before I start DAT Destroyer since I feel like that has improved - probably looking at taking ocher practice in a week or two after a lot more studying and bio - probably in a few weeks lol

ah alright np. gen chem isn't bad to be honest. just have all your fundamentals down. thanks dan. i just dont feel like i'm that good at it overall but i'll keep at it.

I'd also recommend doing destroyer, and fully understanding every thing you do wrong, before any practice exams. Use your practice exams wisely.

Interesting advice Feralis. What if that 3.5 is after a pretty good junior year though? I got a 3.8 in the fall and am going for a 4.0 in the spring. I would be ~3.5 after that. I'm hoping to do well on my DAT in a week but I've only been avging 20-21 on bootcamp.

I had a 4.0 my final 2 years of undergrad and for schools that had very high GPA averages (Harvard, Alabama) it didn't seem to make a difference. They likely use a formula that simply inputs your overall GPA when doing interview invites. I'm sure upward trends help when your application is being looked at more in depth, though.

Well that's a bit annoying haha. Thanks for the info though, now I know. My gpa isn't great and isn't horrible it's just kinda meh. At least I'll get one good year in I guess.

If you don't mind my asking, what was your final ogpa and sgpa after those 2 yrs?

Latest standing BIO 15 GC 18 OC 15 RC 21 QR 16 PAT 19...went up a point in GCHEM - I've missed 2 points on lab techniques on every practice exam I have taken - I need to put some time into that ...time to start GCHEM bootcamp 😀...I hope my scores shoot up after that

I have also put in a good study strategy for OC and am halfway done - I am hoping that come my next practice exam, I am scoring a 17 minimum on that section...

Latest standing BIO 15 GC 18 OC 15 RC 21 QR 18 PAT 19 - Went up 2 points today in QR using Math Destroyer...Jesus guys, that was exhausting, didn't realize my math was that rusty, nor did I realize it was going to take that much effort to bump up my score -.-

Omg I agreeee. I did 8 bootcamp test and my scores are 17/17/17/19/18/18/18/18 .... the last 4 I did this month and I swear if I make another 18 again I'm gonna faint LOL
My issue is TFE, I. Just. Cant.
I skipped tfe entirely on my DAT and guessed and it actually worked well for me. I'd only recommend this if you master the other 5 sections. TFE is no fun and if it never "clicks" you're better off scoring your points in other sections rather than waste time.

Look into the datgenius tfe tutorial! That thing was night to day for me. After I read it, tfe became one of my strongest sections!

Test #3 of bootcamp sciences - PAT, QR and RC are from Crack...regardless this is just a measuring stick for me to see that I am making improvements...still a long way to go between now and April

this is a really strange way to keep track of things but do what will make you more motivated! i kinda slacked first week of the semester because I was still tired from DAT studying but I'm gonna step my game up and try to get a 4.0 with 20 credits 🙂

Going in hard this month - I've been doing between 150-300 practice problems a day for this week BIO - OC - GC , using a variety of resources -will continue to do so till the end of the month. I hope that I can see the result at the end of this month...we'll see 🙂 Wish me luck mates!

And this is why I told myself I can't study that much for the DAT during the semester. It's just so much to do... You do need to maintain good grades also man! Don't destroy your health completely

I feel ya... I mean I can't workout...but i shouldn't see a dip in my grades...maybe 1 B, but that's about it...

It's very impressive that you're doing this on top of school. I can't imagine doing that. But keep this up and you will be reaching your 24 target in no time.

Can I ask you how many hours you have been spending a week studying for the DAT? I am thinking of studying for it about two months prior and idk if that's enough time

I would say if I am being 100% honest with myself, I am putting in 60 hours a week give or take...but honestly I'm starting from scratch - My GCHEM/OCHEM knowledge was dismal - my bio knowledge was non-existent (some would argue still is) - I hadn't taken a math class (aside from stats) since junior year of hs...so thats why I'm starting so intently as well as why I started so long before my exam. I'm still around an 18 overall...a far stretch from 24...I'd be okay with a 20 or better honestly...whatever gets in me

feralis is the key. I should've tried memorizing all of it! Anyways nice gpa man! Much better than mine 🙂. You gots this dude

Think about getting the "General Chemistry Destroyer" and "Organic Chemistry Odyssey" if you are still struggling. These books helped me a lot while I was studying. They are expensive so if you can do better with Chad's video and destroyer that's best. Take extremely good notes with color and all for ochem on Chad's and refer back to them daily to remember little things like difference b/w Sn2 and E2, etc.
