Greetings everyone
I’ve made this forum to gather some information about my unique situation.
It would be great to hear from any of you.
I’m a foreigner studied BDS in RGUHS,Bangalore, India and I have 17 backlogs ( due to language barrier and problems I had in college).
Now I’m getting married and moving to states , I’ve been reading many articles regarding the backlogs effect on GPA mark but I couldn’t find them helpful can anyone please tell me if I stand any chance as a dentist in states? Specially for IDP course after passing first 2 parts of exam?
And how much my GPA would be with an average of 62% and 17 backlogs.
And what can I do in state with such situation?
Any chance of get into dental hygienist courses??
Regards

What is the backlog?
If you haven’t graduated, then you would have to do a 4 year program

I suggest you follow these steps:

1. Go to the RGUHS and get your transcripts attested. Make sure it is given to in an envelope which is sealed and signed over the flap.
2. Go to ECE website and apply to get your credentials evaluated.
3. Once that is done, you have an idea of your GPA.

4. I think almost all Dental Schools in the US needs a minimum GPA of 3.0 to consider an application.

You need to pass at least NBDE 1 to apply to the schools. CAAPID application asks for electronic Letter of Recommendation but there are some schools which asks you for a hard copy to be sent.
Therefore, you are better off if you get all that done before you leave India.
I'm not sure about the last two questions.

Hope this helps.

I have cleared the whole thing but has passed some papers in more number of attempts
What is that 4 years course? Would I be able to do it?

You either graduated or not. If you graduated, then it’s IDP, which is usually 2 years long. If you didn’t graduate, then it’s regular program, which is 4 years long. If you graduated with incredibly low GPA because of many attempts, then you don’t have many chances to be admitted anywhere, unless you go through masters program with high GPA

Thanks a lot for answering me
Do I need to send the transcript to them?? And should I send individual mark sheets too?
If I want to apply for multiple schools do I need to request for more ece evaluation results?
And does this ece evaluation have some duration?
Regards

does anyone have any idea about the influence of a low gpa in admission to idp in canada,i never failed but gpa is low

Frankly, none. To be sure you should try, of course. But I new several people with GPA around 3.5-3.7 and they never got in after several attempts
There are only 50 seats for the whole country and many many immigrants who can’t get through equivalency process

what were their afk and ielts scores? does having a masters degree make any difference?

I don’t remember all their stats, I would say-average
Masters has a huge impact, because masters GPA significantly enhances your general GPA and shows that you are finally taking studying seriously

Even if my masters gpa is low as well???

If you have a low GPA, you have no chances in Canadian schools. Plain and simple. Why would you ask? Because of the high competition and because schools would not think that you are a good student. If admitted you have high chances to fail and they will loose the rest of the tuition
Anything lower then 3.5 is hopeless
Do licensing process in Canada or apply to American schools, of course after doing something to remediate the lack of effort in your home dental school

I don't mean to be rude but how did you get into a masters program with low grades?
Admission into masters depends on your grades in that specific speciality plus as i said my overall gpa is low but i never failed any subjects
