So I had an assignment due for my creative writing class, and I thought I'd share with you all. Hope you all like it!
December 1st, 2011
I sat alone in my house,
Wanting and waiting for the next day to come.
December 1st is almost here,
From which school will I soon hear?
So anxious, so ready,
Just dying to read that letter.
Just after midnight,
My life may get better.
What did I do to get here,
I thought to myself.
Shot glasses from each place,
Stood on my shelf.
Cleveland to Louisville,
To Philly, and Glendale, Arizona.
No more flying,
Because next was in Pomona.
New York, Ann Arbor, Boston,
To Richmond and then Vegas,
Moving to Pittsburgh,
Wouldn't be outrageous.
Phone, email, and snail mail,
Are the methods of notification.
Since all my interviews,
It's been anticipation.
The application website,
How could I forget?
Please don't crash,
I'll be very upset.
One by one,
I expect to hear,
Don't quite yet
Open the beer.
Where will I be
The next four years?
Two more hours,
I'll be in tears.
Mom and Dad,
I'll miss you.
What would I
Do without you?
No matter what,
You'll be in my heart.
Soon I'll be looking
At my patient's chart.
I just can't wait,
I'm dying to know,
If I have to learn,
How to shovel snow.
One by one,
I'm staring at the clock.
I just realize,
I'm not wearing any socks.
Shivering because I'm cold,
Or shivering because I'm nervous?
I hope my cell phone
Is still in service.
They probably won't call,
It's almost midnight.
I'm still going to
Charge it despite.
Refresh email,
Refresh website,
I can't seem to stop,
I've been doing it all night.
Tick, Tick, Tick,
A couple minutes to go,
I'm really hoping,
They all don't say no.
My parents are out bowling,
Soon they'll be here,
I just can't wait,
To open that beer.
Beer or tequila,
I'll decide in a bit,
Oh my god,
I just might S#!T.
One unread email,
I see on my screen,
Oh my god,
Is this a dream?

Is what it said,
Congratulations,
You've been accepted.
I scream so loud,
I'm happy I did it.
I run to my brother,
I say I did it.
I jump on the phone
To call my other brother.
Congratulations,
Did you tell our mother?
I receive an eCard,
I don't read it.
I hang up the phone,
And then I see it.

Is what it said,
Congratulations,
You've been accepted.
Hello tequila,
I drink you tonight.
Looking down the road,
My future is bright.
Are they here,
Or are they not?
We all should
Take a shot.
Hello Mom, Hello Dad,
A future dentist,
Yay, how many schools
On that list?
Hugs all around,
I say just two,
That was until
I hear from B-U.
I take 3 shots,
Then off to bed,
3 schools running,
Through my head.
I wake up to Temple
And V-C-U,
Next is Midwestern,
Then Pittsburgh too.
My life changed
When I heard from seven.
I will never forget
