I finally registered my classes and it would be cool if you guys tell me what you think, since there were 2 advisers talking me out of it, lol.

So here it is:

Animal Biology + Lab 5 credits
Chemistry I + Lab 5 credits
Calculus I 4 credits
GS Activity (Freshmen) 1 credit

Total: 15 quarterly credits

The advisers advised me to take College Composition I instead of taking Chemistry. I was actually thinking to add a Humanities class but nah 😛.

It makes sense why they were trying to talk you out of it. Seems a bit too much for first semester, but if you are sure you are up to it then go for it. 👍

You really need to be taking 2 science courses per semester. Assuming most prereqs require Chem, Ochem, Physics and Bio sequences. Taking 2 sciences per semester allows you to finish your prereqs in 2 years. Anything less and you have to squeeze summer sessions in, etc. Besides that, just make sure your Animal Bio transfers... over here, it doesn't. They really want a Bio I and II.

Yeah, that's problem. I have no idea how the classes are in college compared in high school. But I checked ratemyprofessors.com and talked to some upper classmen and it looks like I have one of the easiest chemistry prof in campus. I hope she's not too nice though or it will bite my ass in the end.

My uni is using the quarter system and there's no Bio I and II. The advisers told me that Bio I and II here are Animal, Plant and Molecular & Cellular Biology. I also checked UCSF for reference and it transfers. 🙂

Arggggggh, I wish our curriculum was that varied.

My advice to you is follow your advisors guidance. I'm not saying you can't succeed or will not excel, but I really think you should take the less aggressive approach to 110% ensure you come out with all As. In the long run, what are you going to be happier with? Having all A's this semester/quarter while getting the classes that you need, or possibly having less than a 4.0 and trying to rush things by cramming yourself with the more challenging classes? Don't rush it.

Trust me, your schedule looks fine. Just study a lot.

That's probably the most common schedule first year students have in their first semester. All you need to do is study at least 2 hours per day on each subject to reach grade A. It's that simple...

why is everyone making seem like that schedule is impossible? My first semester was more difficult than that and I did fine. It just depends if you are up for the challenge and ready to manage your time well.

I decided to add another foreign language class that I am already fluent in. 😀
