So my gpa has just been calculated by AADSAS. Looks a little iffy...

GPA GPA (w/o)
BCP 3.33 3.38
Science 2.96 2.93
Non 3.02 2.97

First of all, what's the difference between the two calculations and which one holds more weight? Second, are my chances shot with grades like this? I'm taking the DAT end of July/beg. of August...hopefully I can get a high score to offset these grades a little. I should also say that I've been doing a pre-dent post-bac program the last two years and I've been getting decent grades, hence the OK BCP. Lastly, since these are now verified does this mean my application will be mailed out in the first batch?

One calculation include the +/- while the other doesn't. Some schools look at the ones that have +/-, some don't. Your app should be mailed out in the first bunch since the grades are up. If you do well on the DAT, I think you'll a good chance. Does your science GPA include your post-bac grades, because that's still really low. How's your cumulative gpa? Also, what about research, volunteering/community service, dental shadowing? You should hopefully have some dental exposure already?

My science gpa does include the post-bac bcp courses and the reason it's so low is because I was a math major in undergrad and I got some pretty dog**** grades...a lot of C's and a D. Cum ended up being 3.07 so not that great. I have no research but about 70 shadowing hours and decent extracurriculars. I guess it's all still pretty up in the air without the DAT. I'm just glad I got the app. out now so hopefully that'll help me out a little. Nothing I can do now but wait and see I guess. The only thing I do have going for me is the post bac the last two years at Umass Boston. It's a huge upward trend from my math grades at Providence (where I went undergrad).
