My little rant

Wouldn't the younger students have their own friends and family outside of school as well?😕

Yes, but it's usually more time consuming and difficult to match schedules with people who are not in pharmacy school. They typically find it easier just to hang out with classmates who have almost the exact same schedule they do. When they have some time off, their friends from pharmacy school will also have time off, so it works out.

The younger classmates are definitely the ones that hang out together more. Older students are at a different point in their lives and for the most part are not interested in just hanging out. I don't mean they are unfriendly, only that they are not really into the whole clique-y thing.

The older students are more likely to talk to you about stuff if you're willing to listen and pay attention. With younger students in cliques, they tend to seem like they wouldn't care and wouldn't pay attention, so I don't see the older students talking to them very much unless they have to.

What's the issue that everyone has with these "cliques"? Everyone, in every situation, has groups of friends. I see no difference here.

Have you never seen a clique? It's not a group of friends as much as it is a group of people who think they are better than everyone else and go out of their way to show it. I mean everyone has friends that they are closer to than others, but do you go out of your way to make people feel excluded? Though to be honest I haven't seen this sense high school, thankfully it is not a problem in my class.

I've seen many, just none since high school. I just get the feeling that people here are confusing the "actively excluding you because you're a nerd and I'm beautiful" high school groups with the "these are my friends because I enjoy their company" pharmacy school groups.

The study group thing makes perfect sense too - I hated large study groups. Once you get beyond a few other people it turns into a party in the library with no actual work getting done...someone has to get excluded there.

Yeah, the older students in my class seem to prefer early schedules. Like we'd put a vote on for the timing of an exam. I'd vote for something like 11AM-12PM start time so I can sleep late and wake up refreshed for the exam, not deal with traffic, etc but there would be a deadlock since the older students prefer early morning classes and tests so they can get out by like 3PM-5PM since they usually also have kids who are getting out of school around that time.

Yeah. Before I started pharmacy school, I didn't really think about what it's like to have kids or be married, but when I started talking to those with kids and those who were married, I started to see things from their points of view.

Sparda, do you notice that people who are older tend to study with others who are close to their age? And maybe hang out with ones who are also married or also have kids? So they'll have more in common?

Yeah. They ask me why I don't go to sleep at 10PM and that results in an eye roll from me, and when I respond that I'm raiding in WOW at that time, I get the eye roll.
