I'll admit I made a derrogative comment about BMEs. I take it back (I did in a different post).
That being said, I think it's stupid and pointless to argue about who's major is better than who's. If you get accepted, you've worked damn hard, and an adcom aknowledged that (or you're a really smart slacker).
If you don't get accepted, ask for an exit interview, and ask why.
If you never got any interviews anywhere.....I'm sorry. I won't say try a DO school, because DOs are just as competent physicans as MDs. To imply that they take sub par applicants is ludacris. Perhaps they have a different way of looking at the applicants, but if someone gets accepted to a DO school, THEY ARE STILL IN MEDICAL SCHOOL. I will say retake the MCAT, try to get at least a 30, try to take a few more undergrad classes (and rock them).
As for all of you IV league pricks (my 3.2 from Haavaard is better than your 3.85 from BFE State), I don't give a damn (nor would I if I was on an Adcom). I go to med school with people from Hopkins, Vanderbuilt, and Utah State. They're all equally competent.
Many posters have said it, and I'll echo their sentiments: Take an Undergrad that you want to. Something you'll enjoy.
I'm a ChemE, and I think they rock, but I did NOT take it to impress an Adcom.
That's it. Peace out. Good luck to all you applicants.
