Since getting through Kaplan material is taking much longer than I had hoped (especially with 8 hours of lecture 5 days a week), I think I need to re-plan things a bit.

The old plan was to get through all the material once during lectures (i.e. the first three weeks), read it all again in the fourth week (plus the behavioral and anatomy Kaplan books and BRS path once), then get through FA twice during week five. Even though I'm getting a lot out of Kaplan, I'm not going to realistically end up getting through everything within the amount of time I have.

The new plan is to get through as much of the Kaplan stuff as I can during lecture weeks 1-3, finish off the Kaplan material during week four and part of week five (including the behavioral and anatomy Kaplan books and BRS path once), and do FA once and Step-Up once each during the final few days.

Join me...fudd....I'm just winging it!

I started with biochem and then just started working my way through the systems. I got through endocrine in a day and a half (pretty recent memory of this) and am now working on neuro. I'll keep doing this, and save the mental disorders ect for last. I've been doing Q-bank questions after I study each thing.

In all honesty..I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm doing pretty well on Q-bank though...but who knows what that means.

Kaplan does take a long time go get through. I looked at their materials, but its like its teaching you the material all over again, I need to review, not to be learning it fresh. The kaplan books seemed like a lot of detail to me.

Sorry fudd, I'm babbling. Basically I just wanted to say hi!

Thought I'd pop in to say hi to you two 🙂 It is amazing how much I have to revamp - and time keeps flying by. I agree with Mossjoh that the Kaplan seems to be too detailed, but my husband loves it. Heck, who knows - I wish I had the guts to just wing it.

When do you guys take the test? I only have 17 days, I think.

I came to the same conclusion last night at the Red's game (wooo hooo for the Red's BTW). I've had too many days of 12+ hours of Kaplan, and then my recall of their material is not too hot, and being too beat to even do any QBank. I don't really see myself getting through all that material that I have left, let alone time to review, and I would eventually like to get through Qbank.

I'm going to finish out using their micro/immuno, and then shift to just these for the rest of my studies:

Qbank

FA for Behavior

FA for biostats (possibly some from Kaplan)

BRS, FA, Robbins Qbook for Path

FA, BRS and a few "100 Rx for the boards" notes that we have
(our Pharm and Path courses are cumulative tests & final, so I've already had to review those again and again and again, so I'm not stressed for those)

I'm just going to do that over and over again, as I'm not getting jack out of Kaplan for the amount of time I'm putting into it.

Have you done Phys already? If so, what did you use or if not, what do you plan to use. I like your Path plan 🙂 Thanks!

For pathology..the stuff I have studied recently, I just basically looked over BRS Pathology for a reminder. The stuff I did last semester, such as Renal, I just read the entire chapter in Robbins and some in a renal pathophysiology book. It only really took a few hours to get through everything, and it all comes back pretty fast. Von-Hippel Lindau syndrome was even in that chapter, I've been looking for it forever! 😉

Anyway, I still need to get through Pulmonary, Hematology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and behavioral science.

14 days to go.....
