Hello,

I was a nontraditional URM and I was accepted into the 2018 class, I'll be starting at BUSM this August. I was reading personal statements for a few weeks, though I'm taking a break for now for vacation/work. Though, I've posted some tips I've learned over time on my blog:

Tips on the first draft of your PS
http://doctororbust.wordpress.com/2014/03/11/personal-statement-how-to-get-that-first-draft-6-simple-rules/

Tips on forming your PS narrative
http://doctororbust.wordpress.com/2014/04/14/framing-your-narrative/

Extra Tips about the PS, from feedback I gave to writers I critiqued
http://doctororbust.wordpress.com/2014/05/19/medschool-personal-statement-critiques-lessons-learned/

My own personal statement *not a perfect example, but this is what a finalized draft feels like*

Good luck to you all!

If you have any questions, and I'm taking forever to reply to you then find me on Twitter as I don't frequent SDN much @doctororbust

Drop a line, I may be reading drafts again next week, the schedule/updates will be posted on my blog (linked above).

Hi! I can't get to the link of "Framing your narrative". I can only find your own personal statement. Can you send me the link? Thank you.

Thanks! This is honestly the most difficult part of my application. Everything has been done for about 2 months and I am still freaking out about this…

My pleasure. It's pretty tough, not only to write it, but to also let yourself be revealed in it -- it's a vulnerable feeling. Though, when all is said and done, all you can do now is play the waiting game as interviews invites should be coming soon (if not already).

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your personal statement!
