micro requires LOTS and LOTS of revision....so whenever you set out your schedule to do micro...you have to be in a 'mindeset' to mug up a lot of things....make mneumonics (I know you might be saying, how many can i make) but trust me...i think mirco in my head only sticks because I make funny/stupid mneumonics.....

Hi guys! Im new to this thread... and Im retaking the part one too.. Its been pretty hard motivating myself ! I would get depressed and think im not good enough, but looking at this thread gave me some hope too.. the last time I scored in the 80s...and that wasnt enough.. obviously. Looking for that "90"
I did start studying and then stopped and started again. For now i am working for a lil extra money but gonna start today! finally..
Im wondering "Aspiringdentist" what subject do u think i should start with ? I find physio boring too. but i guess thats the one thing we can remember in the end huh? as biochem n micro leave us in a read again situation! i wanted to ask u.. are u reading everything in great detail like the first time, I end up wanting to read details coz im afraid of leaving anything.
Also looking at these posts im thinking of buying the rudmans question bank..ill look for it on ebay or amazon. If anyone has the ISBN # plz let me know .. thanks ... I'd be greatful if anyone replies! I need to create a study schedule and not " give up " as easily as i do !! looking for inspiration.... please🙁 I loved being a dentist in my country 🙁

prep nt good
did 1st reading of biochem, da/dh,
few chp path, one chp physio
immuno,
have not been able to cover much of dental deckss..
rite nw studyn anatmoy,,,,
aiming to complete anatomy by 28th of this mnth....

Hey dr37, I too face the same dilemma but i guess the idea is to revise and re- revise, and a good way to do that is through the questions, just a quick glance over them few times a week and we cn know wat all we still remember, and stuff we can't answer no use fretting n getting depressed but to go back to the book and read it twice, And also Q.s we already have answered they also need to b marked well so that possiblity of it forgetting it in future lessens!! Hope that helps!!

I do not know if anyone has noticed, But I have been missing from this thread.. I've been hiding! i wasted whole 3 days! All i did was respirator path. My path is already 5 days overdue.. debating whether to finish path and tackle anat or take up anat and do path later. hmm.... maybe I'll sleep on it 🙂.

I guess you could start with physio or path. Anat needs to be done once studies have started in earnest. i dont know about Rudman's.. i'll post here if i find it.

Im planning to give the exam in oct.yeah im probably gonna start with path coz i like it better.. i was wondering how this sounds.. doing one system from each subject.. like GIT physio..then anat.. then path. mayb doin only one sub could become a drag.. and i found rudman's in amazon.com for about 50 bucks. Thinking of gettin it.. do u think reading from that is worth it? if its good ill buy it. I dont know where else i can get it from. anyways all the best to u!!

Hi..nice to see everyone studying an dinto the "exa mood" I shouldn't be posting this q here ..but just incase anyone is interested.
I saw this note on decks which I found puzzling, its in Dental Anatomy & Occlusion- Mand M&P section
"In a working side movement (right or left)
the MB cusp of Max 1M passes through the lingual groove of Mand 1M
the MB cusp of Max 2M passes through the facial groove of Mand 2M"

Since the MB cusp of Max 1M occludes in Mand 2M MB groove and the working side movement is lingual it makes sense for it to go into the lingual groove, however since the Max 2M occludes in Central fossa of Mand 2M, and it moves lingually in working movement how can it ever go into the facial groove?
Any one?

I shall be taking part in 3rd week of july, i'm done with anatomy , dental anatomy, currently doing microbiology and biochemistry.I'm using only First aid [refer to my own school notes n text books where necessary] followed by decks and released exams.This how I'm proceeding .
Can any body suggest me what schools application dealines we would be able to meet if we take our exams in mid/end july?

start with nbde first aid followed by decks ...this is what i did.N what ever u don't understand refer to yr books that u used to read.Anatomy is really time consuming n so is micro... lot of things to remember.

yes, that is nbde first aid.after i'm done with all, like mentioned in my previous msg. in the end probably a week bfore the exam i will go thru all the questions on sdn forum.I think the most imp thing is how much we retain on the exam day..from where n what we study is not that imp. , we must know the fundamentals first.

There is a darn good reason for that! - Pure, unadulterated LAZINESS! And oodles of it.. Wonder if I can trade those for some brains, or even determination? If wishes were horses, beggars would ride huh?

After 15days of careful deliberation about what subject to start next.. (Oh! I managed to rush through last few chapters of patho somewhere in between these 15 days) ..I decide on anatomy.. So I did start today with all those crazy foramina and structures passing thru it.. Now last time around I did not do anat from kaplan.. So I am gonna start with First-aid, hopefully the illustrations look familiar , and read kaplan..

Bottom line- I am 15days behind schedule.. How in the world am I gonna pick up that kinda serious slack?!

So I had a discussion with another NDBE taker and gotta know that she was reading Dental Materials. Please plz plz has anyone heard of any Qs coming from Dental material properties etc. as she said.. I don't believe her as never seen any myself, nor is it mentioned anywhere on the ADA website. Really cud this b true.. As she said, that in the changed pattern such Qs are being asked??? Kindly Clarify especially recent test takers !!!!!!!!!

even im taking exam mid july, 16th, still havnt read path n physio, even once, will be completing micro today, and tomm plan to do anatomy decks...nt many days left,
and regarding school deadlines, most of them have in sept and oct, but the sooner the better, im aiming at 16th july, but with the pace my course is goin, i dnt think so il end up gvn it on tht day, but i dnt wanto to procastinate it, as by doing so I will be losing on few schools..
so hope fr the best

u just need to practice few reading comprehensions, I gave it last month, again, coz the first time i gave it was two years back, the score is valid fr only 2 yrs..

and u can take few one or two practice test, toefl is a piece of cake, need little practice fr reading passages, listening, speaking ..are too simple..
writing...again simple.
it entirely depends upon u, toefl i dnt think so needs much time, barrons book is there for toefl, see if u can get it online, thts wht ppl in india use..bt ive never read tht book,so i dnt knw how it is..

Take yr time, doesn't matter even if u miss out on few deadlines, repeating the exam is really hard!I would be taking it the first time.Even i waisted lot of time initailly asking as to what n where to study from ...kept on procastinating.The simplest thing is to pick up the book n study.I'm on the verge of completing micro/ path n in a weeks time n then i shall begin the last subject-bio chem n physio.After studying three subjects i feel e'thing is getting mixed -up, so want to devote lot of time revising...i hope i will manage to spare time for that.

u r nt alone, im in the same boat....havn hard time memorizing all this, i totally agrre wth u, it wud have been so much easier giving it after 2nd year...its too hard nw, but nt impossible,,
ive been out of school fr 2 years...so approx did my 1 ns 2nd year some 5 years back...

here I am again.. Trying to get my procrastinating brain and incredibly lazy a** to study.. hasn't worked in forever.. So much so that my husband actually asked me if I gave up plans of practicing dentistry.. that was kind of a rude awakening ( i hope) So I am still on anatomy, micro and biochem to go.. 😱

Now that i say that out loud, that is pretty scary... less than a month to go! Oh boy! what have I gotten myself into? ! somebody!!! talk some sense into my thick skull!
