Since you have just finished your sophomore year, you should apply next cycle.

As for when to take the dat..Have you complete gen chem 1&1, gen bio 1&2, and ochem 1&2?

i did Gen chem 1 & 2, BIO 1, and orgo 1, i got C's in all those classes
I wanna retake BIO, cuz if i retake I am positive i will get an A

will be taking orgo 2 and bio 2 jnior year

Definitely wait to take the DAT until you have completed Bio and Ochem 2.

You got 4 Cs? What is your GPA? You might want to focus on your classes a little bit more and don't overload yourself first.

C's suck, i got 79.3 in Bio 1, my prof doesn't do +/-, if i would have got i more question right on any of my exams i would have gotten a B

my gpa is 3.32 (according to the AADSAS Gpa calculation)

the only things that saved me were the
A+ in calc
A in Stats
A- in precalc/Trig
all 3 were 4 credit classes

i got A's in all the Labs

Which month should i take DAT next year?

Definitely try to get better than C's from here out..

I suggest studying for the DAT towards the end of your junior year, then take it at the end of May.

do dental school care about grades in Math courses ?

i know many people that got C's in calculus but A's in every science course

maybe i'm jut good at math but do dental schools care about getting A's in 4 credit math classes

i'm gonna start studying for DAT now, i am poor at chemistry

1 year of DAT prep might be good

Dental schools like good grades in every class. Your A's in your math classes will only help, but it is important to get good grades in science classes too.

Studying for the DAT for a year is definitely overkill..😉

The As in math classes will not look as good as As in science classes because that's what dental school is going to be like--a bunch of science classes.

Plus, those classes that you got Cs in are prerequisite classes and it is strongly recommended you get the best grade you can for pre-req classes. A C- is generally not considered a "passing" grade too.

Hi. I'm an undergraduate and i just got done with my sophmore year. I have already taken general chemistry 1, 2, 3 (with GPA's 4.0,3.3 and 3.3) general biology 1,2,3 (with all 3.3's) and organic chemistry 1, 2, 3 (with 3.5, 3.0 and 3.5). I know i'm not doing good at all, no shadowing/volunteer work, not in any clubs and no research yet. I have a few questions and would greatly appreciate it if some people could help me out!

1)What is the average GPA and DAT score that you need to get into a decent dental school? (i've an average GPA of 3.8 right now)
2)which books are good for preparing for DAT?
3)What kind of volunteer work and other activities should i be doing to get a better chance of getting into a dental school?
4)Worst thing i took calcII and i got a C in it.. thats the only C i ever got in my life.. i was just wondering is one C a bad thing and i should retake calc II or should i not worry about retaking it?

Thanks!! 🙂
