Hello,

I submitted my AADSAS 08/31/2021 and completed all supplementals within a day or 2 after, except for LECOM whom i am still waiting to be sent the link to submit supplemental.

I took my DAT on 09/27/2021 and will provide my scores below.

I completed UNC’s MED Program, which for those who are unaware, is a rigorous 9 week course through the UNC dental school that exposes students to the first semester of dental school coursework to gauge how well a student would succeed in dental school at UNC. I finished with a great score and a “recommend for dental school at this time,” and great recommendations and reviews.

My sGPA and oGPA are both 3.43

My DAT scores are as follows:

PA: 18

QR: 14

RC: 20

BIO: 21

GC: 19

OC: 16

TS: 19

AA: 18

I have applied to UNC, ECU, MUSC and LECOM. I know my DAT scores aren’t superb, but i believe with my completion and recommendation from UNC MED Program will help boost my application tremendously to make up for my lower sections.

What do you all think? What are my chances?

I do know some schools have a cutoff at 17 for all sections, so you may have gotten screened out automatically by a filter. I think UNC should be reviewing your application, especially with your recommendation from their school. 3.5 ish is the average of the schools you listed so your GPA should be fine. Good luck!

Yeah i had read that somewhere as well. All LECOM says is Average DAT of 18, so i am assuming i meet their criteria.

That makes your chances better for sure.

I'm not sure any of us can predict your chances precisely, but if nothing moves in the next few months, I'd work on re-taking your DAT!
Thank you so much for the response! 🙂

I know some classmates who did MED and it certainly did help their chances of getting in. Their DAT was probably higher tho. Best of luck!
