So I have applied to 20 schools this cycle and have heard back from 7. Two rejections (Texas A&M and Loma Linda), two future interviews, and three pre December interviews at USC, Western, and Nova. Should I start looking into back up options or wait it out and see what happens? My GPA is a 3.7 and I have a 21AA on the DAT, with tons of extracurriculars. I’m starting to worry a lot... Thanks

Edit: (I believe all of my interviews went pretty good at all of the schools)

What happened to the 3 pre-dec interviews? Waitlist?

Just focus on your 2 future interviews and hope for the best.

I was waitlisted at USC, have not heard anything back from Western, and have not heard anything back from NOVA (but no one else has either on the forum).

@Faefly was accepted to Nova yesterday, after a pre-Dec interview, just fyi
I wouldn't count out your three pre-Dec schools just yet. USC has a huge class and will accept students in the coming months, and you haven't been rejected from Western or Nova yet. Focus on doing well on your upcoming interviews, and perhaps send Western and Nova a letter of intent, or at least update them on your shadowing hours/volunteering hours/other aspects of your app since submission. Good luck!

That's true, after my interview, I didn't hear anything from Nova and my status was still invited for interview so I assumed the worst. But then I decided to send them a letter of Intent and an update of what I am planning to do during the spring semester and the very next day I heard from them. I remember Dr.Lippman specifically saying that if we are invited we pretty much have what's needed on paper and if we were waitlisted or under review, we should reach out and show our interest and he said he'll know who wants to be there and he'll try to give them a spot after January the 3rd.

Should I write any letters to schools I haven’t received an interview at? Like a letter of interest? And are there any examples of letters of intent if I decide to second one?

There are many examples online mostly for med schools or residency, but you just need to look at one example or two to give you an idea on what reasons make this school your favorite or top choice. 3-4 paragraphs are more than enough. Proofread your letter and make sure its grammar is correct.

Even if you have not been invited to that school, send them a letter of intent ( saying you have talked to current students and researched about the school etc etc) because what are you gonna lose exactly? Nothing.

I found this example, I believe there are others online of course.

Best of luck.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your interview experience like at USC?

If you have the email of the dean of the admission, then that's good.
If you don't then send it to the email of the admission that they put on their website.
