Hello all!

I am a Neurobiological Science student at the University of Florida. I was in my behavioral neuroscience class today and we were discussing myelination- more specifically oligodendroglia and schwann cells. I asked my prof. "What is it that terminates or inhibits myelination (in relation to complete neurological development)?" He said that in his 30 years of study, he has never been asked this and urged me to research it.

After I researched it I came upon various sites exploring "Myelination Inhibition Factor", but nothing that leads me to a solid answer as to why the brain stops myelinating cells.

Could anyone link me, or give me, information relating to the inhibition or termination of myelination? I am looking for topics for a senior research thesis, and this is proving to be the most interesting idea so far.
