Which one does everyone on SDN use more? Which one seems better for a pre_med/future doctor to use? Right now I currently use MySpace and have been wondering if I should switch to Facebook since it seems a little more mature than MySpace.

I "use" MySpace as well. The reason "use" is in quotes is that I log on like.. once every few days to see if anyone messaged me, and then log off 😛. I use mostly SDN! 😳😛

I use facebook a lot more. I think I log into my myspace account like once a month, whereas I log into my facebook account usually once a day but at least once every other day. So far, since I've joined, I've logged into SDN more than once a day

You need to clinch off your butthole and stop using that garbage. Don't get sucked into that vortex of stool pushers, strumpets, and idiots who like to document their life with pictures and friend requests. In my opinion, facebook is the lesser of the two **** boxes - but don't become consumed with it like most of the *****s I know.

You are going to want to simplify your life in med school - and that means cutting out useless "social networking" sites like myspace and facebook. Anybody who uses myspace should be cursed with bouts of machine-gun-diarrhea that splashes a hodge podge of fecal matter, urine, and sperm on their butt cheeks.

Wow...🙄
I am actually glad you stay away from social networking sites.
Do us all a favor and continue to do so.

I use Facebook, but mostly only to keep in touch with close friends on a regular basis. MySpace just gets on my nerves with all the crap people put on their page.

I regularly use facebook to keep in touch with all my friends and to message, network etc. But I've had a FB account for like 3 years whereas I just got myspace a few months ago. It's hard getting used to myspace for some reason. Facebook is more regulated and safer I think because I've heard of people being phished and scammed through myspace (after all it is open to everyone). But it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't type your password just anywhere. Also in facebook people tend to talk mostly to those they know, it seems a bit weird to befriend new people in FB for some reason whereas this is perfectly normal in MS (especially new girls 😀, the only reason I really got it).

Either one is equally professional, as long as you keep the pictures of your drunken weekend gangbang off your page or at least untagged! That may not go so well during any type of interview (med school or jobs). Myspace however is more public and easier for people to see your page and check on you...facebook is much tougher if you beef up your privacy settings.

Facebook. I don't even have a Myspace page.

I have some serious stalkers and by some I mean two. Still, i dont use either Im thinking about getting facebook back

Hey there chuckle nuts, do me a favor and continue engaging in butthole pleasures with losers and internet ******. I don't waste mytime with ball huggers such as yourself who are interested in making electronic constructs of themselves.

Logjammin, I like the cut of your jib...but after that zinger, you are probably going bye bye...

PS: I think myspace personal pages are for losers, but I don't see any problem with people joining an incoming med school class facebook group...

I like the way you think. On a serious note, I agree with the facebook group for meeting your class mates. It allows you to see how much they partake in questionable binge drinking. I joined facebook when I got into D school, and it was helpful in finding a roommate. I looked for the person who had the least amount of useless information about them displayed on their page.

That was one of the funnier things I have encountered all day long.

Myspace is only good for music. To the OP, you should be approaching the age now where you drop the Myspace thing.

I use facebook. MySpace made the critical error of letting every ***** control their own design. "Black text on a dark, tiled image background with more black text raining down, a blinking marijuana leaf or twenty, and some overplayed emo or rap song! What can go wrong?!"

You hate networking sites with a passion. I agree with you but dude, let kids be kids.

Plus I use facebook sometimes. 😳

🙄

I use both.

There was a study on this very issue a while back. Researchers recognized that society seems to be split into the better off who use Facebook and the seemingly less put together people who use MySpace.

The social order persisted into the military where most officers use Facebook, while most of the troops use MySpace.

But, with respect to the OP's question, I agree with Picard.

For me, Facebook is the safer and simply better way of keeping in touch with friends. You can basically be invisible in Facebook to the point that nobody can even search for you. Although I have myspace as well, I rarely use it. Myspace is not even close to Facebook when it comes to security, etc. Also the statistics about the # of sexual predators on Myspace is downright disturbing.

im surprised no one flamed you for how ridiculous that question sounds. neither will have any impact on your future as a physician.

that being said, myspace sucks. i have an account, but i havent checked in like 2 years. i was really into facebook when i first got to college (i'm gonna be a senior next year) but now i dont use it that often but do check it occasionally. facebook is the better way to go, esepcailly if you are in college. the only people that can see my profile are my friends and the people at my school.

Completely agree

I use myspace for family the most.... and classmates second. Some of us do have lives outside of school...

the OP of this thread is an idiot. they should be banned for even starting this POS thread. why don't the admins delete and ban trolls

Myspace sucks. Any old naked man can look you up and message you. Plus I can't even read people's profiles through all the giant glittery text, weird backgrounds, random animations, youtube videos, etc, etc.... Blech. Stick to Facebook.

rogerwilco: Haha! That was great! Love that pic.

Logjammin: Awesome, just pure awesome. Sure, what you were saying was a little...Yeahhh...But it was funny and did make me laugh. While I kind of agree with you that we need to just get away from these two, I also find that MS and FB are great way of networking so I don't find it a complete waste of time. Also, there's what flip26 suggested with the group.

DSpagnoli: Yeah, I haven't really checked my MySpace for quite some time now. Mainly because everytime I logged on, there would be millions of new bulletins of pointless questionaire's, and people typing lyk dis n bing 2 lazy 2 typ the word 2. I kinda get the feeling that Facebook seems to be the more mature of the two.

ryserr21: I can see how you would say that my question should be flamed but actually...My friend has a good contact group of doctors and pre-meds on Facebook, thanks to that group of contacts, he got the chance for some awesome shadowing experience from a couple of doctors. He even managed to get me to go with him to shadow at a hospital after I finish all the steps. So that's why I asked, because maybe one of them has a better network for the medical field.

tf2medic: Heh, you're pretty funny. I'm not even going to take offense to your petty little attempt at putting me down. I'm too busy laughing at how you took time to open this thread, read it, and then reply to a "POS" thread. I guess you just have nothing better to do, ne?

Oh yay, I was waiting for this question to be asked...:meanie:

You being a doctor will not be dependent on weather you're using Facebook or Myspace to keep in touch with friends.

Got a source?
Ah I had to Google it because I don't know where I read about it originally. Certainly, it could've been this article from the Guardian, which characterized the study as U. of California research project: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/jun/26/usa.news

But the Google search also yielded the original article and it ends up that it was not meant to be a scholarly paper but simply observations and conjectures on the subject. It can be found here: http://www.danah.org/papers/essays/ClassDivisions.html

Which one seems better for a pre_med/future doctor to use?

this part right here is why you are an idiot. and of course i'll take some time to make fun of you. there needs to be more ppl pointing out how stupid of a question you asked. yes there are stupid questions, and stupid ppl are the ones who ask them.

Well that sure is putting it nicely.

Translated: If your house has wheels, you likely use myspace.

 Yeah, I guess it goes something like that.

I've noticed that I'm on MS more than FB just because more of the people I talk to more often aren't on FB. So that's my reason, and dammit, I feel better about myself now.

Facebook did originally start out as an University-only network. If you didn't have a college email, you couldn't join. Then it slowly started opening it up to high school kids...and now, to everyone!

I kind of agree with the divide. You can't really lie too much about yourself on facebook, and if you do it's totally obvious and you look ridiculous. While on myspace, the banners and icons stating "i'm sorry you're so damn jealous of me cuz my babby daddy still loves me and you just a Ho*" fits right in with all the other pages....and you can create a whole fantasy life complete with fake pictures and what not.

Although some people do try to do the same thing on facebook, but in a less obvious way. I love it when people update their statuses to "OMG I love my life!!!!" like once a week. Okay loser, glad you're loving life so much that you're sitting in front of a computer telling us about it instead of being out and actually living this life you love so much.

You sound like you had 0 friends in college. I'm guessing you had both for about 3 months but never got a friend request.

How I miss those days. I liked it when it was undergraduate/graduate-only. That was nice.

And yeah, that's sometimes true. But a lie told often enough...

Whats up there bottle-nose, sounds like you are a real champ there. I bet you have a ton of friends....you know, the internet kind!

Son, I could give two giant, steaming dumps whether or not I get electronic friend requests over a computer. I am going to school to be a doctor, and to have a REAL life social network. By all means, immerse yourself in the toilet bowl of fecal water that is known as Myspace.

I have plenty of friends, you know....the real kind! The ones that don't require me to click "accept". Are you going to be doing this when you are 35 and are a real bona-fide member of society (maybe doctor)? C'mon there bilbo baggins, get with it!

Pwned. I love your posts

Definitely Facebook!!!! 👍🙂

MySpace could be better personalized etc. but it's for High School kids with lots of time... It sucks anyway.

Facebook is a convenient way to keep in touch with friends and it has some cool features. 👍

I'm going to start a new website called MyFaceSpace and you all better join!!!😎

good thing this isn't a pre-law forum 😀

 Quite the contrary, I think. I keep telling my JD-to-be buddies - however few of them - to not sue my silly self ten years from now.

(I wish "as/s" weren't censored. That's silly, too.)

Oh yes, I forgot about that now that you mentioned it..

*scribbles in To Do list... MAKE PRE-LAWYER FRIENDS"

Wow just wow!! I mean people don't use facebook because they are friendless, they use it because its a quick and fast way to keep in touch with people who may be living far away and especially easier to use then regular email sometimes because it allows for one central place if you want to post pictures and show it to people or an easier way to sending out invitations for different events or a way of getting to find out who your new classmates are through facebook groups for inoming med school classes.

I use it to keep in touch with people who were old acquintances in highschool and undergrad. its a uick and easy way because a lot of people check facebook quite often. I know a good friend of mine use it to keep in touch with family members as well.

It doesn't mean we have no life it just means that its a mean to keep intouch with pople who are not always close by or in the same city any more.

But you see guju, you have a reasonable point of view, and that is a bad thing in this board. Shame on you!

I have an account in both, but I never really use myspace because I initially found it not really user friendly and it wasn't secure. There is more now, but I have always been more comfortable with facebook. Lately, I have been too busy to use it.
