Anyone notice this? Whenever I log back onto AMCAS, the transmission dates for most of my listed schools change. Even for those schools where my application has been complete for over the past month, the transmission dates show up as 10/20 or something.

Any idea why this happens?

did you take or retake the mcat in august? most schools are redownloading applications to get updated information..specifically the mcat scores.

I've noticed this too, and the last time I took the MCAt was in April 2002. I've added abosultely NOTHING to my app and yet it still changes. I almost called some schools asking why I wasn't allowed to access the secondaries (ie Emory), because my app said transmitted. At the last minute, i did a check on AMCAS and saw that it had changed.

AMCAS is a terribly run service. What are they doing with $720!?Any other on-line service would go out of business.

I'm still waiting for verification myself, but some schools have already downloaded my app (or so they said in emails shortly after I submitted back in early september). However, there are no transmission dates for _any_ of the schools on my printed application whenever I check it?

Did anyone else experience this?

the reason the transmitting dates keep updating is that the schools keep redownloading the information. so, if you have an address change, for example, on your AMCAS app, they get that information the next time they download your application from the site. even if you don;t change anything, they still do it.

Well, sometimes they do indicate something. A day after Mt. Sinai changed its transmission date on my app, I was offered an interview. At another school, about a week after my date changed, I was accepted. However, if you've submitted new biographical info, then the dates will change uniformly within a few days for all your schools.

Hope that helps.

I've noticed this periodically, though. I took the MCAT in August 2002 (without any retakes), changed nothing on my app, etc. I just wonder if there are certain time frames, i.e., every 1.5 weeks, when AMCAS will re-transmit my app. How is it in any way efficient for swamped adcoms to re-download primaries that have not been touched in months?

Eh, well. I guess it'll just have to be relegated to one of the not-so-great mysteries of the universe. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes. I just know that if we can solve this, we'll be able to solve the mystery of how socks disappear.

Same with me. Actually any time I was up for a change in status; secondary, interview, etc. the school in question downloaded my material a day or so beforehand. It became a pretty good diagnostic for me, I knew when something was about to happen.

I'm having the same issues and what you are saying about re-downloading makes sense, but why hasn't my application been transmitted to two of my school yet when others were sent out three weeks ago? Are they rejecting me pre-primary? lol I know one school was waiting on MCAT scores but those were up weeks ago. Stupid AMCAS. Angry pre-meds---->+pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed++pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+
