Can you fill out a WAMC template?

What do your prehealth advisors say? Why are you hesitant?
Thank you for the response, I appreciate it greatly. I just noticed the section for WAMC, should I post it there? My advisors have encouraged me to pursue applying this cycle, but they do hold a preference for gap year students, which I completely understand. I am mainly hesitant about my hours, I am unsure on if they are "checking off a box" for medical school applications, as I do feel they have greatly impacted my journey in medicine, but they can definitely be seen as lackluster when contrasted to nontrad apps.

We don't have insight into your profile as the advisors there would, especially given that they offer a committee letter. It sounds like they are confident in what you present as a candidate. The question is going to be your school list, which will be dictated by your activities, your purpose, and your metrics/MCAT. That's why a WAMC profile would help here. We usually ask for an MCAT score before we suggest programs, and we also need your state of residence and where you grew up.

That makes sense. I'll attach a link here to my other post in the WAMC forum that has a better outline of my hours and EC. I have a preliminary list of schools, but take it for face-value as I haven't put much research into the choices yet. WAMC/school list Traditional

One thought: online shadowing will not count.

You need 50ish hours, live.

Stop research and focus on getting in more service hrs to people less fortunate than yourself.

I think you can pull this off this cycle and be good to go.

One question, since I am studying for the MCAT currently while at school, would I be able to obtain more hours through my volunteer positions during the summer while I submit my primary? I'm not familiar with the AMCAS application so I'm unsure on if there is a section for anticipated or planned hours that I could list aside from my completed. Thank you for your help!

You should take the time now to read the AMCAS instructions. The 2026 AMCAS may be closing soon, but if not, try filling it out (just don't pay or submit the form).

Anticipated or planned hours have very little value. Otherwise, everyone would be promising the moon. What counts is the snapshot of your profile when you pay your AMCAS fee. The more you overpromise, the bigger the impression you leave to screeners and adcom faculty that you aren't ready.
