I took the NAVLE today and have been stressing about how I think I did. I know that the NAVLE is graded on the 200-800 scale with a 425 score as passing and that there is no set 'percent correct' to pass. I did find some sources that estimated that 55-65% is required to pass, but some other sources say 70%. I wanted to see if anybody has more information on this or has heard anything similar/different. A 55-65% seems reasonable, but a 70% seems more daunting.

Theoretically if your version required a 70% to pass, it’s because the set of questions you were presented were statistically considered to be easier than a form of the test that had a lower pass rate. People’s tests are different, which is why there isn’t one set pass percentage.

At this point, there’s nothing you can do now but wait and worrying won’t change anything, so just try not to dwell on it and continue to learn on your rotations. Or if you’re graduated already, find something else to do until you get your results.

I took the NAVLE today and felt okay initially coming out of the test, but afterward, I remembered quite a few questions and think I got a lot wrong. I do really well in school and completed 100% of vetprep. I also took a practice exam and scored well above the 425 cut-off. I know that I may just be experiencing the normal dread after the exam that it seems like a lot of other students feel, but I am already freaking out that I potentially failed. There are some questions I should have gotten correct that I second-guessed myself on. A lot of people walk out of the NAVLE certain that they failed. I felt that way. If you prepped well, take solace in the fact that most students (even with the recent drop in pass rates) will pass the first time. The NAVLE isn’t designed to make you fail or weed people out.

And if you do need to retake it, that doesn’t indicate that you aren’t smart, won’t be a good vet, etc etc. For now, enjoy the break from studying and go about life as normal.

How many days did you take off from studying before your NAVLE?
I think I stopped really 'studying' several days prior, maybe a week. My school also gave us a day off before our NAVLE and I did not spend that day studying. I think I reviewed my weak areas (causes of swine diarrhea at certain ages, for example) but otherwise tried to keep it chill and get a lot of good sleep leading up to the NAVLE.

I stopped studying about a week before. I didn't review at all the day before mine (I did NOT get the day off, lol) and I intended to get a good night of sleep, but then that didn't happen because I decided I'd rather do something fun because I knew I wouldn't get much sleep anyway due to anxiety. So I think I got 4-5 hours of sleep when it was all said and done.

Still passed.

panicking!! I just took my first ICVA practice test yesterday and I was barely in the passing range - part of my range was passing and part of it was failing. I'm absolutely terrified because I have my exam this weekend. I dont know what to do at this point. I feel so defeated, and I'm scared my internship that I have lined up (outside of the match) could be taken away. I spent last night looking at jobs that would hire a DVM with no license

How did it go?

Did anyone else get an email from ICVA with the subject: New Access Code for NAVLE Candidate Dashboard - Please Read
