Just wanted to share my part 1 experience with all those who are going to be taking it soon. It was pretty tough compared to the old exams- some of the questions were exact or similiar so get a good bearing on the old exams. Don't rely on the old exams completely.

I studied for 2-3 months off and on but during the last two weeks I studied day in and day out. I did the decks two times, old exams from 78-04 and for a couple of the old exams i had the kaplan explanations which explained each question in depth. I also supplemented First Aid with the decks. Overall, the first forty to fifty questions were tough while the testlets were pretty simple. Make sure you do a practice test the week before the exam just so that you can sit through the exam. As for time- i finished thirty minutes early for both blocks so just relax and don't feel rushed- they give you plenty of time. Let me know if you have any other questions

HEY Rupesh thaks for sharing is there any specific area you would advice me to get a hold on like , muscle insertions , hormones , inmunology etc thanks again fo rsharing your experience .

I still think this new test is not foreign train dentist friendly because you really have to understand the question and requires a better knowledge of english compared to the other, were there was a lot of medical terms that are universally related because the majority come from "Latin" and also the questions were shorter you could pretty much figure them out

Hi Rupesh
Thanks for your post and good luck for ur scores.Well i jus have one question...lot of them say the first 40 were difficult..can u pls tell like what topics they were frm?

hi rupesh....do u have an idea of score conversion...like how many percentage get converted into hw many percentile..?

The first forty to fifty were difficult to me just because I was really nervous, however, when i relaxed the rest of the test just flowed. Know your basics and you will be fine.

As for score conversion, i think 320 will get you a 90 percent, but i also was talking to some of my classmates and they were saying that it is going to be curved against other students who take the same test. The test out there vary greatly, like for example, my friend and I were going over some questions and we both felt like he got a harder version, especially the testlets. Take it for what it is- just make sure you know your basics- can't stress that enough

Hi Rapish,
Thanks for you suggestion about the test.
But could you advice me some books ehich are good for preparation. Also,I just started to prepare NBDE 1 at the Kaplan. What I have to do for study, which section is more common?
Thanks for regards.
I'll appreciate if you reply me your advice...

is it true that ther r questions based on ethics n hw to prepare for that????plzzz plzz do reply n do give u r suggestion rupesh

thanks

hi..dnt worry abt ethics ..its pretty easy..and hardly 2 or 3 questions...
do the rest of the things well....gud luck...go to decks website..they hav sumq on ethics...

Shibab- Sorry for the late reply, as far as ethics questions- docsmiley is right, they are very simple, nothing to stress about.

Pantera186- do the decks and old tests and supplement it with the kaplan book and you should be fine. I didn't use the kaplan book- I used the first aid book, but looking at the kaplan book- i felt like that book is better than the first aid one.

Does anyone have the old exams w answers and the Kaplan book that wants to sell?
Thanx 🙂

If u r looking for a good score then u should do kaplan plus decks plus old papers, thts wht every1 has always told me here n everywhere n i m sure it works n revision is the key its not an easy exam so take ur time study hard
goodluck
i dunno ne shortcuts so if neone else has a say plz contribute
peace!!

hi..keep revising what uve done..so during the test, u dnt get stuck with the last two options..sum memorisation is surely needed ..be thorough wit decks..do them 2 to 3 times..and know the explanations to the questions pit pat..do old released papers..but the very old papers are misleading..they r way too simple than the real test...the 2004 and recent papers vl giv u a fair idea of the real test.....
all the best...
practice the test prior the real exam....vl help u to accustom urself to 7 hours of the real exam..kaplan book is definitely gud....

hi..surprisingly, i never got a 3 digit score..but my score adds to 312....and composite score is 87...its curved against other students right answers ..so that vl make a difference as well....

hey thanks everyone for the help,i really appreciate it..🙂
but i was thinking that have any of u used the Kaplan Q bank,or crack the nbde..like these things, are they worth enough to spend that much money?
i am a little unsure at this time, that is why i am bothering everyone, but thanks for listening
