I just finished the first part today and I go in for the second part tomorrow morning. Any advice on how to do a productive review for this thing? Is it just like in the released exams -- strictly cases?

Any tips, anecdotes, or flat-out help would be greatly appreciated

Pretty much you'll see anywhere between 8-9 cases and there will be 10-12 ?s on each. The ?s are pretty straight forward about med hx, tx planning, beh mgt, and so on. The important thing to know is that you may see 2 sets of x-rays or 2 sets of pics, beware and look at all the data that's given. Like the released exams, you'll see med hx, dental charting, xrays and pics. Good luck!!

Honestly, go over old exams and make note of the repeated questions -- you will see them again (maybe re-worded, but you will see them again). It seemed like the majority of them were trick questions: They all COULD be correct but which one is the MOST correct (and we all know when it comes to treatment plans there are varying opinions on "most correct"). It seemed like the questions all focused on "factoids" instead of general important ideas. Seemed like every random side comment on the decks was covered in some form or another on the exam. ALOT of pedo and endo-related diagnostics. Know pulpotomy, pulpectomy, apexogenesis vs apexification vs RCT backwards and forwards. Know vitality testing backwards and forwards. Be sure you can recognize various oral path lesions cos they will feed you information that isnt related and tries to lead you to a wrong diagnosis.

Good luck! The exam was way harder than it should have been -- just because of tricky wording and focusing on alot of trivial details. I'm hoping Day 2 will go smoothly! I'll post back tomorrow and let you know.
