Hi This is nisha from India. Recently I got part I scorre now want to take part II but don't how to start and which material i should read. Also looking for a partner to study. hey all! i just got the results of my nbde part 2 and i passed with an 81! for all you retakers... we CAN do it. i just wanted to thank all of you out there. this forum was a great support system and i thank everyone for their help! if i can help anyone out in any way, feel free to PM me.

i used mosby's, decks, released asda exams, and i studied for awhile. i took my last exam in aug, and i retested in dec. so about 4 months and about 10 hrs/day.

Took the exam Dec. 15/16 - scored an 81 (good enough for me!) Raw score 383/500. Studied for about 4 or 5 good solid days - ran through decks once, a few released exams, and a pharm review a friend gave me. Found Mosby's to not be incredibly helpful so I stopped using it after the first day. If you've been paying attention in dental school, you should do fine. Now I just need Match Day and WREB's to go my way!

And, by the way, all this talk of ragging on the ADA and Joint Commission and suing them and whatnot is a bunch of garbage. Just because some people passed with scores in the 320's and others failed with 340 doesn't make it an unfair test. It is a STANDARDIZED score. You are scored based on several criteria - a 340 or 350 on one exam may be equivalent to 310 on another due to degree of difficulty. Thousands of people pass the NBDE Part II every year, so I would say it has some merit. I also disagree with people that say you need to study for months on end. Studying that long for anything will just psyche you out, and give you more test anxiety. My advice would be to run through decks once (twice if you have time I guess), and hit the released exams hard as there seem to be a lot of repeats. Just do this for a couple weeks (no longer than 3) and just take the test. Good luck everyone!

Ok recieved the scores on my 3rd attempt and i passed with a RAW score of 76 with a RAW score of 350. Ive definitely heard of higher composite scores with a lower RAW score but it could be that my examination was more simplistic than those cases. So passing on the 3rd attempt is very DO-able I am proof.

What I did that was different than the first two tries were that I went through the Dental Decks ONCE (writing down the stuff that I didn't already know; put those notes in question form and tested myself on that). Did the same thing with Mosby's. What I noticed was that the Pt. Management section corresponded STRONGLY with the actual examination; and the DECKS were not even close to being as helpful. However having failed it before, I knew what I was weak on so I tackled the weaknesses first. And actually scored higher than the national average upon what I was weak on previously. And if its your first attempt I would assume your weak in every subject just so you stay alert and leave no stones unturned.

So disappointed, just found out the other day that I failed Part II. I got a 74, and had a 325/500 score. Reading this thread just makes me nervous, I am motivated to study and plan on going through the decks thouroughly and read the corresponding sections in mosby's and then will review old exams from the early 90's to the current. Then I with the 2 weeks remaining, I will look at first aid, and the corresponding dental deck sections where I was weak, ( i.e. oral path and operative).

My biggest fear is from reading this thread, that I will fail this second time, I keep reading how difficult this the grading is the second time around, and how diffficult it is to pass after you have failed it once.

There is no point to worry but to do your best. I actually knew a few ppl in my class who failed it the first time and passed it the second time around. In fact, out of all of us who failed it, most passed on their second time. I was in your shoes too and felt a lot of fear, but that brought me nothing but insecurities and what we need confidence, not the opposite. Remember that most ppl pass this exam, it is a totally passable exam, just do your best and that's all u can do!!!!!

I just got my scores back yesterday. Took it the week before Christmas. I got 390/500 for day 1 and 77/100 for case based - I scored above the national mean in all but the operative section. My composite score was an 82. Not stellar (especially compared to my part I), but I'll take it. Highest score in my class so far is an 83 (from two people). All of our class has taken it, but not everyone has gotten scores back yet. Several failures, most passing scores in the 75-80 range. Don't underestimate this test. I studied for around 2 months, but I didn't study every day. I studied maybe 3-4 days per week with 3-4 hours per day, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on if it was a weekend or if I had lab work or not. I used decks (only once), mosby's (patient management section was good), tuft's pharmacology review, loma linda implant course cd (was required by my school for the implant class - it went way too in depth so it just got me frustrated - I honestly didn't have that many implant questions compared to some people), and I started using first aid until I realized that it wasn't helping me much. I only used the most recently released exams (90's forward). Our school required us to purchase Kaplan Q-Bank - I accessed it twice for all of an hour maybe. Might have been helpful, but I didn't use it enough. If you plan on only using the decks it won't be enough! Sorry for those of you that have to retake it! Good luck!

For those you have already taken the exam... how were you scoring on the practice tests and how did that compare to your actual score? I am just trying to gauge how I am doing on my practice exams with how I might do on the actual thing. Also anyone know what percent on average they are curving the test? I hear that it is between 4-5%. So you need a raw score of 71 to get a passing score. Is that accurate?

In response to everyone asking and any future questions
I spent about a month studying. Made sure every day to study some. Some days 4-5 hours, some days 1-2 hours. Dental decks, threw out cards i knew all the info on, kept the ones i needed some help remembering. Went through those cards probably 2-3 times. Spent a ton of time on old exams. At least the last 4 days all day on old exams. Lots of repeats on my exam. Not sure what the "version" was, or any remembered questions, nor would I feel comfortable talking about any questions on the test.

Just be sure to go through the decks and old tests. If you have a Mosby's book, I found it helpful in a few areas (Endo, Oral Surgery, Behav Sciences), just because it was a snapshot of things in a very ordered fashion. If you don't remember something, just make a note of it, keep it on the side, and look at it over and over.

I have to agree with some of the recent posts ( and no it isnt just because ive passed already), but anyone that thinks they can "sue" the ADA for this test or get mad about their results, needs to forget about it. Study up, take the test, and pass. Its a standardized test, and most likely has a bell curve.

hi.. i would like to thank everyone on sdn who helped me in preparing for part 2.. i gave part2 and yeah trust me its not like part 1 . they have twisted every small thing.. but nothing to fear about much. all one can do is study well.. i dont knw hw much i am gonna score in tht looking at the current failure rate but would say tht decks was a gud help... and to a small extent release papers were fine,., mosby helped me to pile up the whole story but it contradicts decks most of the time.i did kaplans q bank.. yupp ths was gud in context to the style of the paper.. day 2 was much harder than day 1... in day one there were easy questions too... study implants and patient management well....... rest i can tell after i get my result.......lol but till now what i feel is tht its hard but not impossible..........efforts never get wasted!!!!!lets hope for the best!!!

hey i didnt read implans specifically from one place..just read basics of implants from mosby znd rest from here and there online....not specifically...but yupp i am scared coz tht was my weak part.

Yes, they are very helpful, they are pretty much all you need from the ASDA exams to do well. Good luck!!

but at the same time i am upset coz i wanted to improve my resume to get into DDS prog for international dentists. my nbde 1 is 88 ,gpa- 3.74,toefl 110 ,part2-76
do u think it can help me?????????plz guide me.... i shall be really thankful.

My friend....you're doing great, I'll put my life to get at least that score in part 2 and close this chapter in my life. that's the only requirement that I need to get my lincence and start working.

Sorry but I don't know much about these programs. I'm sure intl programs by now know how tough it has gotten to pass part 2, so I bet they'll be a lot more forgiven based on the recent scores which I'm sure are not that great. Wish you luck in getting in any program!!

MY FRIEND, THERE IS A 2 YEARS GPR PROGRAM IN ELISABETH HOSPITAL IN OHIO, TO COLLEAGUE OF MY WERE ACCEPTED WITHOUT BOARDS EXAM 2 YEAS AGO. TRY TO LOOK THAT INF. TO SEE WHAT HAPPEN.
ALSO COLUMBIA uNIVERSITY IN NY HAS AN INTERNATIONAL DENTAL PROGRAM. TRY THOSE AND RE-TAKE PART 2.
WE ALL FACE THIS HARD TIME, SO DON'T WORRY, YOU'LL GET IT

You did a great job. My friend got an acceptance from Upenn. Did you try that school? Her nbde I is 84. toefl is 104.

hey buddy i applied there but i was late.....ans at tht time i didnt have part 2 score...and i have heard they need a lot of experience. idont have much experience... just 1and a half year in home country....

Apply to Penn, again...,now you have part 2 taken...and better score that the friend who replied, don't be negative Did you know that if you believe will see the glory of God.
Never say no if you have not tried ok?😉
