Hi dear dentists,

Since nobody answered my query(more than 200 views and no answer !!! impressive ha ? )
Anyway, please would you be more helpful,
I'll just ask you to put your NBDE 1 score ( in details please ) and the month you took it.
That's all , your detailed score and the month.
Thanks again guys.

---------------------------------------below was my original question.............
I want to ask you a question and hope no one will let met down.

I'm thinking to take my nbde part one in April/May, but, i heard from a friend that it's not the best months to appeal for the exam and even if i'll score high in every section, my result will be less in comparison to Nov/Dec takers .

So, would you please advise me regarding that, if it's a rumor and myth or it's true ?

And if anyone took the exam, would you please submit your score ( in every section + comprehensive ) and the month you took it,

please if you don't mind spending a couple of minutes and replying me, i'll be so grateful.
Thank you in advance,
God Blesses.

i wish there is an answer to that question too. but the truth is, the month that u feel u r prepared is the best mnth. there is no other best month. and even if there is, do u think anyone will tell u?? 🙂 then the rest of the world will be writing that month!

this is so bad,no one is helping out.i want to know the month tooo, sooo confused when to gve ,whn not to gve secondly from nxt year patern is being changed.hope some one guides us soon

first off a caveat: i'm studying for the part 1 as we speak and am giving it on march 23rd. i am by no means an expert, but here it goes.

the nbde part 1 is not based on a simple curve. its a bell curve.

sure its just a blog, but i happen to believe that its true. also, the scaled score has changed a bit from 2006 till now. i'v gone through a lot of threads on sdn, and a lot of detailed results (they ARE there if you look for them..nobody is going to repost just to satisfy this thread).. and the following seems to hold true for the scaled score nowadays :

300/400 = 86sh
320/400 = 87-89sh
330/400 = this is the magic number for a 90. an average of 83 or 82 out of every subject will net you a 90 scaled score.
340-350/400 = 93-96sh
360/400 = 98/99 (90 out of every subject will net you a 99 scaled score)

i find that this holds true for ANY month. you might get lucky by getting an 88 if u scored a 300, but it could be due to a variety of factors, not just the month. also notice that its not a significant change from the usual 86, so i'd say its a +or- 2 in your scaled score, which in the scheme of things, isn't so much.

my advice: stop wondering about which month to take it in. prepare the best that you can, and when YOU feel ready, take it.

and to answer the question about the Pass/Fail. no one knows what criteria schools will use for the 2013 session (which is what it means if you wait for 2012 to take the exam). it could be heavily dependent on GPA, or maybe the schools will require their own entrance exam. no one here can predict the future, and thus no one can guide you. but again, my advice... if you want to apply to schools THIS year, study hard and get a good score. if you're worried about getting a low score, study harder. if you're STILL worrying you will get a 77sh on part 1, then yes in this case, maybe its wise to wait for 2012 Pass/Fail. but that has to be a last case scenario. why not just back yourself to do as well as you can and apply this year? If you feel like your test scores are low, then improve your resume in other areas. (research/volunteering/work experience/letters of rec)..

i feel like waiting until 2012 for the Pass/Fail is a losing mentality. you are setting yourself up to fail, and in the meantime are wasting time that you could be using to get a good score.

anyway, i tried to help. i wish you guys the best of luck in preparing and taking the part 1. i tried to give my sincere advice, and hope it helps.

I don't know how to thank you, you're the best, may God awards you for your kindness and helpfulness, you deserve all the best pal & wishing you the best of luck in your exam, i'm thinking to take the exam in May.
Thank you again for your time, God blesses.

I totally agree with Amreki..I think you should give it whenever you feel you're ready to take it. I also think that its a myth..there's noway that ppl who took it in nov/dec scored better...i don't know where you heard that from but i think its just a coincidence if nothing else.
