Im just studying to take this exam in january and came across a question in the 84 released exam...

Carcinoma of which of the following tissues has been associated with ingestion of food contaminated with Aspergillus?
A. Lip
B. Lung
C. Liver
D.Colon

I chose Lung, its obv a respiratory fungal disease...but they answered liver? Can somebody explain plzz??

Yes the answer is liver and not lung........Aspergillus causes respiratory disease.....thats true but it does not causes lung cancer. And then ingestion of food means it wont go to your lungs it will go through your digestive tract.....so no way of getting lung cancer and these foreign things and piosons are metabolised in liver and so there are chances of liver cancer.......

If aspergillus is inhaled, only then it causes respiratory diseases.......

Hope this helps

Aspergillus secretes Aflatoxins and aflatoxins are associated with hepatocellular damage along with increased carcinoma risk.

Hope it helps 🙂
