If the anticodon on transfer RNA is ACG, the codon on messenger RNA is

1. CGT.
2. GCA.
3. CGA.
4. UAG.
5. UGC.

A)5

2006 exam

If the anticodon on transfer-RNA is 5'ACG3', then which of the following is its corresponding codon on messenger-RNA?

1. 5' CGT 3'
2. 5' CGU 3'
3. 5' TGC 3'
4. 5' UAG 3'
5. 5' UGC 3'

A)2

Could anybody please explain that to me , since its seems to me the answer for both question should be CGU .

Thank you in advance 🙂

hi tom,
any codon or anti-codon is always read in a 5'-3' direction.in the 1st ques., as there is no 5',3' it shud b considered that it is given in 5'-3' direction.so its answer is UGC.
in the 2nd question,for 5'ACG3' the codon made is 3'UGC5'.as it shud b read in a 5'-3' direction,answer is 5'CGU3'.
did i explain in a way that u understand?👍
