My school takes the shelf exam as the final for biochem and I was wondering what resources people use for content review and practice questions. There's a lot of material that I won't be covering in class, so I'm looking for something fairly comprehensive in terms of content.

BRS Biochem is solid. Alternatively you could go the Lippincott route and get "Biochemistry (Lippincott Illustrated Reviews Series)" and "Lippincott's Illustrated Q&A Review of Biochemistry". If you feel the need for more questions you could check out Pretest's biochem offering although to be honest I didn't particularly like it. In theory, you could also get USMLERX for the biochem section but that might be overkill.

Are you referring to for reading or for questions? @Bru pretty much hit the nail on the head.

For reading and questions. I've been using Lipincotts as a supplement to lecture material so far, but it seems especially dense in the text sections. The diagrams are fantastic though, so I might use BRS for reading and Lipincotts for summaries and diagrams. Neither off those resources really cover the cell bio and genetics that shows up (albeit a small section according the nbme site) on the test. Is there something else that I should be including?

Also surprised that no-one mentioned first aid. Is that because it's a foregone conclusion that it's a corner stone of prep, or is it to superficial for the shelf?

Bc it's superficial for your purposes of the shelf exam.

Well if you have Cell Biology and Genetics on the exam there are High Yield and BRS books for that as well.
