So I'm a bit confused.

My school opts to put my NBME scores on my transcript even though they are factored into our overall course grade as well.

For instance, our shelfs count as 20% of our overall course grade while the clinical evaluations factor in as the other 80%.

However, while my school will print out the overall course grade on the transcript, they still feel the need to print out the NBME score with absolutely no curving on it whatsoever.

Does this look bad to have a transcript peppered with 80's? Just received an 80 on my Med Shelf and umm...not sure that's something I'd like advertised with my other grades that used to be sterling.

I'm a bit confused. A shelf raw score of 80 usually represents a very good score, at least in IM (which is my field). I don't have the conversion table with me now, but I think an 80 represents the 85th or 90th+ percentile. If your school is reporting a percentile, still sounds fine to me.

Really? This was my IM shelf but my percentile was 75th though with a raw score of 80.

My school appears to be reporting the raw score and not the percentile (which I guess I should be thankful for in this case as it's the higher number 😛)

We used in-house exams during my 1st two years and my scores were usually in the 90's and up so I was concerned about this sudden and large dropoff in scores on my transcript.

Discontinue talking.

Does anyone know about the number of Qs you can miss on the medicine shelf. For instance, looking back I can count at least 6 or 7 Qs on the IM shelf I know I got wrong along with others I probably missed.

Does getting a 78 (the score I need to get honors) require a pretty flawless performance? From those of you who got your raw scores back, do you know about how many Qs you missed?

With a raw score of 80, I know I missed a ton of questions. Not too much time to prepare for this one (esp with the holidays looming, my work ethic was in the toilet)
